bleed- Well, thats true to a degree. You and I both know theres a difference between regurgitation and 2d to 3d re-creation ( Me with my maps, and you with motaro, fujin etc.) Plus we can all agree JAX007 and The Suit definitely put personal touches and new/different designs into their work. They know and exemplify the definition of MK FAN ART.
People definitely need to recongnize the line between hacked regurgitation and art.
I will take your comments one step further and ask for an addtional subforum- MK Koncepts and NON-MK artwork. I mean, obviously anyone who comes to these forums likes Mortal Kombat in SOME way, otherwise they wouldn't be here. SO perhaps there should be an official artistic outlet for mk fans to post their NON-MK related works. I think the fan sub forum should be sub-forumed off into about 5 subsections. It would definitely be providing a much greater service to the people who come here. If someone wants to see fakes, they shouldn't have to wade through tens of posts, half of which are poorly represented in their topic headings.

A filter that could work is having thumb nail images by the thread titles.

respecting the stick-figure thread... I think they are funny...I enjoy that thread.... but I think they are a trend right now... like HeroMachines (which come back once in a while to hunt us)

Basically... I think the problem is that we lost many of the "masters"... not in the sense that they where the best... but they where the teachers... they where the ones that gave objective advice... and taught others how to do art...

I understand how some users like Veno get aggravated..... but I also get why newer users get mad... I think we need more intermediate users that act as mediators between the "vetera" artists and the eager learners, and some that act as teachers to the latter...

... Heh, fakes are a good way to get an idea across for people that can't draw to the ability of Jax007 and others. I can't draw too great, but I can get designs and ideas across in the form of sprites.. Completly original.. heh, well I guess that goes with the territory. However, what about the people that make something from nothing when they create sprites. For example drawing something in paint, then shading, editing, and creating portions of it. In my honest opinion, I think creating good, original sprites is just as difficult to drawing, 2D -> 3D conversion, painting, etc. If you don't think that's true, then you're either completly biased or just have a speciality in one of the areas.

I don't think you recognize what your doing by telling these people that they suck at fakes.Your Basiclly saying that they have no hope of ever being good at it,and proving you think your the best in the world.Plus,you could ruin what potentialy could be a great fake artist.Not everyone has talent in 5 seconds,Veno.

It's not only fakes, animations too, but comics. Yes people, even making a decent comic is hard these days. Do you know how I make the comics I do? (And no, i'm not trying to be egotistical). A whole hour. Scripting, editing, effects, special effects, retrieving and cutting out sprites, making sure everything is perfect. Though I can't imagine making comics as hard as making a good fake, that takes like what....60 days? It's a long and arduous task, and it can apply with comic making.

I must admit though, i'm a tad guilty of using PSP 8 while ]{ makes his on paint (Though he told me he uses PSP, Photoshop for some things). Still though, you can wonder what it's like being in an animator's world, or a fakists' world. Step into someone's shoes like Bezou, Veno or Ryu and find out for yourself.

I came to the conclusion (a while ago really) that the process will just have to start over again. People will eventually get better over time. Its just time that's the factor. That goes for all fan stuff. Fakes...Animations...Art. Everything. Of course there will be people that don't get better and do the same thing just because they want to. No biggie. I just want people to just take whatever a person gives them, positive or negative and just use that to try to get better. That's for the ones that who want to get better. If its not that much to go on, just keep trying and maybe you will get something from that person that really got them impressed. Until then, keep trying.

I think that the best people who actually make fakes/comics/animations are the ones which are unique and not something that could be duplicated easily or even mediocre.

There are some people who think that they are higher than others and then there are people who think other people think that they are higher than others when those people don't even think that way. That's just something that will always happen because this is a forum...egos.

Anyways, back to what Veno was basically saying. Veno is just saying that he is discouraged (well, that's what I'm getting from that.) For the time that he was here, the amount of what he believes is quality fakes (I say believes is because everyone has a different opinion) were growing before the time that he left. Then when he returned, he saw that the quality that he saw in fakes weren't all that great and that the community actually believed that they were (well, the majority).

I can relate to VenoMark for what he thinks because this has happened to me when I left for a while. Then after a while I just came to my conclusion that I stated above and just stopped caring. I just give my numbers (sometimes I will agree with points that others have stated.) and leave. No I don't leave reasons why because frankly, I don't care anymore. If the person wanted a higher score from me (this is just me personally), just improve everything.

That's what my score is, it reveals how I feel about the overall fake. If I tell you what exactly is wrong with your fake (I won't say comics and animations that much as I don't really critique those that much...well pretty much at all even though I could since I did do both but eh oh well.) then you will be basically taking my style and incorporating it into yours. I don't want that. I want you to think about what you think is wrong with your fake because I gave you that score.

Also, (BIG POINT RIGHT HERE) if I tell you what is wrong with your fake, you will always focus on those parts being right and never improving on what I say is already great. Well, that's wrong. There's always improvement. Your fake is NEVER perfect. If I just give you a score, you basically don't know what is wrong with your fake based off of that but it should (well that's my point I'm trying to make) make you just try to improve the fake as WHOLE. Not just parts. I don't want parts improved. I want the whole thing improved. So that's my reasoning behind just giving numbers and not an explanation.

For those who think its just ignorant to not give an explanation for what you think is wrong. Re-read what I just typed. Its more like you being ignorant for just minding your own business on somebody's opinion because you don't see why they can't do what you want them to do since you think you're way is better.
