I like the first one you colored the best. Looks like comic book art.

For the third one with the shadows, try making the coloring good enough, so you don't even need the line art over it.

Like an oil painting.

I think the best thing to do for that is to practice painting in black and white.

Use a photo of a real eye or something small and try to match it as close as possible.

Use several layers with different transparency settings for subtle shades and other details.

I always use a bunch of layers for that. It makes it a lot easier to get rid of a mistake.
