I found my game..... and I was right!!!!!! Sub did have to fight Sektor to become grandmaster.
Sub Zero is thrown into a cell in the Dark Prison, a giant complex on a desert island in Outworld, after he was captured on Shang Tsung's ship (as seen on a previous idea). The cell is small, damp, & dark. So dark, in fact, that he couldn't see anything beyond the bars that keet him in. Attempts to escape turn into random punching & freezing the bars. He can't even see the dozens of guards watching him. He finally passes out so close to the bars that he can taste the steel.
Sub wakes up 2 days later, starving. He can see a rat scurry by. He freezes the vermin, grabs it, & breaks it's head off. Ravenous, he rips apart the rodent with his teeth. Suddenly, the stone wall exploded. For the first time in 2 days, he saw light, blinding him. When he finally had the strength to look at the shattered barracade, he saw, behind a cloud of dust, a strange silhouette. This figure walked across the rubble & reached his hand out to Sub. He grabs the cold hand & it pulls him up. The dust clears, revieling red armor..... & a face Sub hoped never to see like this. It was Sektor that stood before him, covered in cybernetic armor everywhere on his body except his face.
Sektor: SUB-ZERO! YOU ARE UNDER DIRECT VIOLATION OF LAW 333-X OF THE HIGH RULE OF THE LIN KUEI! YOU HAVE FLED THE MANDITORY AUTOMATION! YOU HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO.....
Sub-Zero: With all due respect, Grandmaster, we have bigger things on our hands than my escapade! Right now, we must distract the guards or we'll never make it out alive, even with our combined skill.
Sektor: I MUST AGREE WITH YOU, THE ODDS ARE AGAINST US. STAND BACK!
Sektor fires a missle at the bars &, as soon as it detonates, walks through the gap in the metal gate. As soon as Sektor steps out of the cell, he is ambushed by invisible guards. Sub freezes the area, revieling several icy outlines. Some held staffs, others weilded dsggers, and still others were Tarkata. Sub shatters all of them & awakens Sektor.
Sub: We'll free the other prisoners to keep the guards busy. I'll take the ground level while you liberate 2nd floor.
Sektor: ACTIVATING PRTOCOL B97.37!
Sektor flies to the seconed floor with rocket powered shoes. The two Lin Kuei free all of the inmates in the Main Cell Hall, the largest room in the prison. About 398 prisoners are freed, including Rain, Ermac, Kabal, & Nitara. Some were captured. Others were killed by the 1,279+ guards. Only 8, including Sektor & Sub, escaped. As the Lin Kuei warriors head for the shore, Sektor activates his rocket boots while Sub created his ice raft (also seen on a previous idea). As they ride out into the ocean, Sektor stops in mid flight & fires a missle at the now distant island. As soon as they lost sight of the Prison, Sub-Zero made an 69 degree turn right, trying to reach Tsung's palace. However, he ws stopped by a strong grasp.
Sektor: WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'RE GOING? YOU'RE UNDER ARREST, NEED I REMIND YOU?!?
Sub-Zero breaks free of Sektor's hold, creates a giant iceberg platform, & lands on it.
Sub: You really think I'm going to let you take in & have myself destroyed? What happened to you?
Sektor: I HAVE BECOME MORE EFFICIENT!
Sub: You sold your soul just kill faster. You're completly inhuman!
Sektor: YOU THINK YOU CAN DEFEAT ME?!? YOU DON'T EVEN.....
A strange beeping comes from Sektor. His chest cavity opens.
Sektor: FINALLY! THE LAST PIECE TO THE PUZZLE. MY FACEPIECE IS COMPLETE!
Sub: Listen, grandmaster! If you put that face piece on, there is no truning back! Come back to humanity, while you still have the chance!
Sektor: I'VE ALREADY MADE MY CHOICE! YOU, HOWEVER, HAVE NONE.
As soon he puts the facepiece on, jolts of electricity fly from were the facepiece met with the helmet as they weld themselves together. Sektor howled in pain as the last bit of humanity is erased from him. As the process ends, the new Sektor, a mechanincal monster, rises to his feet.
Sektor: I WAS THE FIRST TO START AUTOMATION. YOU'LL BE THE LAST!
Sub: Will I, know?
Sektor fires a missle at Sub, but Sub dodges & freezes it. The missle falls to the ground without detonating. Sektor attacks with his fists. Sub breaks free of the strike, but Sektor fires a missle at him & hits him.SLA- BAM! BIFF! SLAM! FWIIIIIIIIOOOOSH! BIFF! AAAAAAARRRRRRRGH! BAM! POW-SMACK-KABOOM! Kori energy explodes in Sub's veins & trickles to his feet. In an instant, ice forms on his feet & he slides faster than he ever ran. With his shoulder in front, he knocks Sektor down on the ice.
Sektor: YOU'RE A GREAT WARRIOR INDEED, SUB-ZERO! JOIN ME! I WILL FREE YOU FROM ALL CHARGES!
Sub: I've already made my choice! You, however, have none.
Sub-Zero picks up the frozen missle & throws it at Sektor. The projectile explodes, shattering both the cyborg & the icberg. Sub jumps from ice block to ice block trying to reach his former grandmaster's remains. Sub open's Sektor's chest cavity & finds the sacred dragon medallion, a power enhancing relic that the grandmaster of the Lin Kuei posses. It was Sub-Zero's now. He rides off. Not long after Sub leaves eyeshot, the remains of Sektor force themselves back together & fix themselves.
Sektor: ONE OF THE MANY BENIFITS OF CYBERNETICS!
