Why whenever they make a movie about a video game, comic, etc., do the final products never appeal to the people who made that particular franchise popluar in the first place?

Because the director's usually don't know what they are doing.

It's like for Xmen, it was a great movie, but, the director didnt know much about Xmen.

Either that, or the director sucked.
Pick one....
usually b/c the movie isn't faithful to it's original source, such as Street Fighter.

very-very easy. They may make great movies, have great actors, directors and everything... but if they change anything at all, the original fans just feel that their favourite franchise is being bastardized.

however, if they would not change anything, it wouldn't be worth a movie.

Do you really think that if they kept the MK storyline in tacked it wouldn't be worth anything?

If they stuck to the original story line of the games it would be to big to put in 90 minute movie, so they change it a little bit, and the end result is not what the real fans want.

Actually no, I believe most fans loved the first MK movie as movie as I did. I loved it. I still love it. I adore it. One of my favourite movies ever.
Actually, if they would've stuck to the real storyline from the first game, the movie would suck. Sonya would be fighting to free her team, Liu Kang would've defeated both Goro and Shang Tsung, There would be no actual big reason for Kang to be at the tournament, as his brother wouldnt've been killed, etc, etc.

IMO, if Sonya was traped and forced to fight that would have taken anything away from the movie. If Liu Kang entered the tournament to end Shang Tsung trechery and return the tournament to the Shaolin that wouldn't have taken away either. They did Cage very well, he was probably my fav in the movie, so no prob there. Scorpion and Sub-0...i love there history, it's partly what makes MK so good, and making them work together and on top of that work for Tsung took away from the movie for me. The interactions between Characters was done very well, I loved it. over all, the movie was done very well, but I think it could have been better. Imagine, instead of starting the movie with Chan Kang being killed by Tsung, we could have seen THE FIGHT!!, the turning point, Goro Vs. Kung Lao. That would have been epic.

Yeah, they never did explain who Kung Lao was in the movie. Just that Liu was his descendant.

But anyway, Asmodeus, if Liu had entered the tournament just to be the good guy to end Tsung's evil, evil scheme, the whole deal with Rayden talking to the trio would've been useless most times. Like, when Rayden told Liu that vengeance was not the answer, and he told Sonya that sometimes the enemy isn't the most important thing. It was better making Liu a rebel guy at first, and slowly evolve into the good guy.

True if they did follow the official story line Raiden's role in the movie would have been a lot different.

if the origanal creators kept the right's to it (like the potter movies and the LoTR's) then it Would work. why? because there would be no random things thrown in just to get more viewers. (reasion why there's no car chase in LoTR's. ^_^)
