Probably one of my least favorite chapters in a while....
The references to the variations in the beginning and fatality at the end with Scorpion are so cheesy, it gives MK4 a run for its money. On top of that, where the hell did Scorpion come from at the end?! Did I miss something?? Why couldn't there at least be a chapter long battle sequence with Havik since he was the big bad villain...nope..one page death sequence by the most overrated fighting game character. Where/when/why did that whole Hanzo vs Scorpion battle start? It just seemed so spontaneous its like a 10 year old wrote it! I actually wish Scorpion would go away for a game, he served his purpose (Revenge, family and clan yadda yadda get over here yadda yadda), but like thats ever going to happen. sleep

I'd say the best part about this chapter was when Team D'vorah were walking through the portal and Kintaro getting dick and face whipped by Cassie and Jacqui while Sheeva is fighting with no problems.

THOUGHTS?

Honestly, I'm still confused about what happend to Hanzo...Havik...killed him? Right? Then he battled with Scorpion and came back as Scorpion? I dunno.

I loved that Takeda was protected with Jinsei energy

I'm happy that Erron's back! I just knew he'd be a part of this battle. But him effecting Raiden with bullets. No, just no. I've often heard people defend these kind of things in the game saying that it's hard have proper power match ups with the story format that they have, but here in the comic there is not excuse.

The variation references were super corny. As was Erron's Suicide Squad reference. But hot damn ERRON BLACK IS BACK! I'm so glad they didn't just leave him there. And he looked so damn cool.

Scorpion teleported in, just like he teleported out. And given that Havik's head is still talking, it's not much of a death sequence. The story isn't over. Also, that whole Hanzo vs. Scorpion battle probably took place inside his mind, and it was Hanzo finally shutting the lid on his inner demons after they stopped him from beating Havik earlier.
Ferra/Torr, Reptile, D'vorah, Erron Black, Kintaro and Sheeva fighting as a team.

Fuck yeah.

Although I've noticed something: where did Skarlet disappear to? She seemed somewhat loyal to Reiko and we haven't seen much of her since the Island I think.

She lost her legs. She wouldn't be able to do much right now.

Another overbooked (yes, I've used that word before b/c it's appropriate) hot mess of a chapter. Just want this thing to end already.

Hell yeah at Rep, Ferra/Torr and Erron returning (yay!), but that's it.

The variation/SS mentions...yawn. Stop with the cheesy pop culture references. Havik is "killed" for like the billionth time, plus way too many characters jockeying for position.

Lastly, where the fuck is Ermac the last two chapters?

Someone said that this is reaching MK4 levels. They're certainly not far from the truth. Heck, it's close to making Tancharoen look like William Goldman by comparison.

I'm just wondering where the hell Jarek is at.

Maybe he's waiting for Jacqui to come up and say "This is not a fatality...this is a BRUTALITY!"

I liked the "Suicide Squad" not the reference, just the lack of a better term. Other than that this chapter was kinda retarded. Also, why does the amulet look nothing like the actual amulet? What the hell?

Yeah, that was weird. They had the amulet look down in the last 2 issues and now it's a shining rock. I think they accidently drew Kotal's teleport stone instead.

You guys are so ungrateful.
I, for one, am happy that this comic series simply exists. It's the only good thing that's happened to the franchise in the last 8 years and right up there on par with MK Conquest. The last 2 games were awful in terms of story, so we didn't get anything good since Armageddon. Now at least we get to read an MK story every week. It truly keeps me engaged every Sunday. But, hey, I respect what you guys say though I don' t agree with you.

I love the comics. It gives less popular characters a great time to shine, has a lot of action and I think the story is very good.

If I had anything bad to say is that every chapter ends with an exciting cliffhanger that doesn't always deliver the next issue. And since each chapter tries to be a bit self-contained some of the most hyped fights end up being 4 or 5 moves to fit within the 20 pages and whatever else needs to be put in that issue.

It doesn't deter my overall enjoyment thought, so it's all good.

You say we're ungrateful for pointing out our problems with one chapter in a comic, yet you say nothing good has happened to the series in 8 years....confused

Conquest is horrible .

As for the comics... I think the story telling is pretty mediocre. If this was a stand alone comic that didn't feature any Mortal Kombat characters it would be ignored by everyone, yet because it puts the spotlight on MK characters that get largely overlooked by NRS, people are willing to pick it up every week, myself included.

Havik, Reiko, Kintaro, Sheeva, Skarlet are all really cool characters and seeing them do something is excellent. Hell, even Jarek and Tasia's little cameos were cool. I just wish the story was more robust and less convoluted.
