Well I did, in the first movie anyways.

My fave is Reptile, and I really liked how they added him into the story. Especialy since he started as he should, as a reptilian creature, then turned into the ninja. When you hear "Reptile" and he transforms into his ninja form and kicks Liu through the wall! MAN, I loved that. The whole fight scene was kick-ass. Plus they incorporated his acid spit and invisibilty in a cool way too.

I dont think there were 3 Reptile's in MKA, just 3 (which turned into 2grin) Raptors. So I was very pleased how Reptile turned out in the movie.

How about you? Was your favourite game fighter portrayed the way you wanted them to be?

I just hope your fave isn't Shao Kahn...

They turned Shao Kahn into a grade A bitch. He was supposed to be a great bastion of power.Instead they turned him into a wimpthat hides behind hid father. Bah! Now Shang Tsung was a villian. He was a rotten man.He was cool tempered and evil as they come.Much better than Shao Kahn.

Ermac

It would of been better if he did his moves like telekinetic slam and so on, but he just like dodged three kicks, gets hit by one, and then let Noob Saibot out of him.

kahn killed rain, just because he left stryker and nightwolf alive, jade an evil chinese bitch instead of black, johnny the coolest character dying ten seconds after the opening, sheeva getting squished? i mean, ppl with 100000 of years more expierence in kombat than earth ppl lose soooo pathetically, and not to talk about the sencelsse killing o future plot point characters like rain. the first movie kicked ass, and was by far the best movie ever made by paul anderson. all of his other films sucked monkey's ass

One of my favourite characters is Scorpion and I thought he was portrayed very well in the first movie. He fought hard, smart, and nearly beat Johnny Cage. He also had a great attitude, he didn't say much, but his presence just felt like evil. This is exactly how I envisioned Scorpion while playing the games.

In the second movie, in my opinion, Scorpion was portrayed as a coward. He teleported, kidnapped Princess Kitana, and didn't even finish the fight with Sub-Zero. This was one of the many downfalls of this movie.

I just hope Scorpion and the many other fighters in the MK3 Movie are portrayed well enough so it can be appreciated by their fans.

IMO everyone was great in MK1. But as for MK2? Everyone was portrayed horrible except for Cyrax and Smoke.

- Ermacs performance made me laugh to the point where i spat out my popcorn. Like, wtf was going on there? Ermac is a warrior made up of thousands of souls with teleknetic abilities yet he gets PWND by Sonya who is nothing compared to him. It made him look even more ridiculous when he let out Noob Saibot from his stomache..........and that was craptacular because Noob Saibot doesnt live in Ermac.

- Noob Saibot got PWND by Jax. You barely even got to see the guy fight, all you see is Jax running up, throwing a few punches, and Noob is out. Noob is way better than that, the guy is a netherealm warrior, he shouldve PWND Jax.

- I'm not gonna name everyone else but i was mainly dissapointed at Baraka. The mask was horrible and you can actually see it almost flabing off if you look closely. Baraka is a vicious fighter with BLADES and Liu Kang kicked his sorry ass rather quickly. Granted, he kicked the other Barakas asses as well with ease. I mean, Baraka barely touched him!

Scorpion- In part 1 he was bad ass. Every time he came on screen was awesome. And his fight was easily one of the best.
In part 2....SUCKERRRRRRRS!! *cringe*

Kitana- Kitana was okay in MK1. She only appeared here and there and she was mysterious and we weren't sure what her deal was and that was fine.
In MKA, we find out there wasn't anything to find out. In the game Kitana is a deep and complex character; in the movie she's cardboard.

Noob Saibot- Lives in Ermac's chest and is taken out with two punches.
And I didn't even know that was supposed to be Noob Saibot until I happened to notice his name in the end credits a year later. I was like "WTF, Noob was in this crap??"

Sub-Zero- I didn't like that in MK1 they made him more cowardly, with him running from Liu Kang a lot. Also, this started the belief that the original Sub-Zero was evil which he wasn't.
In MK2, he was in it for about 5 minutes...so within those 5 minutes I think he was okay.

Sektor/Smoke- Now, did they screw up Smoke by giving him Sektor's moves and story or did they screw up Sektor by making him Smoke?

Shao Kahn- I notice some fans don't take Shao Kahn seriously as a character or a villain anymore. I blame this movie for that.

Jade- Is evil, Chinese, schizophrenic, and a seductress.....Samsonite? I was WAY off!

Kabal- Didn't even appear. And is considered in the same category as Stryker. Ouch.

Sindel- Honestly, Sindel's portrayal was one of the better ones. But that's not saying much is it?

Mileena- She seemed cool. She only had one line which I actually liked. But she fought Sonya. Why's Mileena fighting Sonya? Mileena doesn't give two shits about Sonya.

So in essence, the few of my favorites who appeared in MK1 came off decent enough. But in MKA they, like every other character in that train wreck, were for the most part butchered.

Sub Zero in MK1 was cool, but he was WAY too golemish? Dronish? Umm... He was a slave to Shang Tsung, and I didn't like that, he didn't even talk! In MKA, as much as we all hate the movie, I think that Subby was portrayed very effectively. We know that he is good and stuff, but unlike the games, the movie at least kept him a bit of a Mystery. Which I always liked about Sub Zero.

I'll go through everyone.

Raiden: In the first movie, he looked awesome! he had the hat, the long hair, although he didn't fight, he really looked and acted the part. But then in the scond movie, they gave him an ugly haircut, a few sucky one liners and a family. No.

Johnny Cage: In the first movie, Cage was this smart ass cool fighter. In the second movie, he kicked, he fell, he died. sad

Liu Kang: He was funny in the first movie, and had cool fights, and he was ok in the second movie. Not too bad.

Goro: I liked him, he was cool. I especially liked when he got kicked in the crotch. Nice! But I didn't really like his appearence. It didn't look like goro really.

Shang Tsung: Awesome. Nuff said.

Shao Khan: (falls onto the floor in a fit of laughter)

Rain: (Still can't stop laughing at Khan) Not in enough the movie enough to really notice.

Ermac: No. He gave birth to Noob Saibot. Ew

noob Saibot: Ermacs his mom. No

Sheeva: For fucks sake! " The dates over! Now I'll stand under this and get squished!"

Motaro: Looked wierd. Could've been alot better.

Sub-Zero: Good in the first film. Not good in the second. He was so mysterous in MK1.

Scorpion: Same as Sub-Zero.

Kitana: Very nice in the first movie. Not too bad in the second either. I like the way she used her fans.

Mileena: Should've played a bigger role, but I still like how she was played.

Sindel: Looked cool. Didn't act it right though.

Sonya: I liked her fatality in mKA. I like her look in MK1. If they could mix MKA fighting Sonya and Mk1 looks, shed be perfect.

I'll just touch on a few...

Scorpion - Badass in the first movie. The whole scene with him and cage in Scorp's stage was awesome. Gave him that edge I love. MK:A, he wasn't bad....but the whole "I'm here, I putz, a take Kitana, I laugh, I leave" deal was kinda sweak.

Sub-Zero - Good fighter in the first movie, especially with the freezing the guy and him crashing into shards on the ground. I agree that they kinda shouldn't have made him a pawn to Shang Tsung, but what ya gonna do? MK:A...more in-depth character, nice display of powers, but all I could stare at was that gap in his teeth. >.<

Ermac, Sheeva, Rain, Noob, Baraka, Mileena - All got OWNED, pathetically. 'Nuff said.

Shao Khan - Holy hell, Batman. What were the writers smoking when they made up his lines and story? Yikes.

Sindel - Not bad...but the actress kinda lacked.

Sonya - Great lines and acting in the first movie. Sucky acting and lines in the second movie, but good fighting. Can't we come to a median?

Jax - Can we say *ghetto*?

Johnny Cage - Loved him in the first movie, for sheer acting and quirks alone. Pissed they killed him off in the first 5 minutes of MK:a, despite him having a decent replacement actor for Linden. ;_;

Rayden - Loved Christopher Lambert's spin on this character. It worked out well, IMO. Horrible in the second movie. Bring back Christopher..please!

Motaro - Not bad character development. Coulda been worse.

Nightwolf - WTF?! o.O

Jade - Uggg.....shoulda been killed sooner. -.- Very bad spin on a good character.

Smoke - Blah! They made him Sektor! My poor Smoke! *pets him*

Sub-Zero kicked ass in MK1 even tho he died in a bitch way I loved the fight

Scorpion kicked ass in Mk1 also

There entrance in MK1 was spectacuar.

Cyrax in Mk2 kicked ass I thought

I didnt like Smoke cause it made no sense as to why he could shoot missles and how liu kang flipped over it was far fetched cause he did like a 30 foot back flip.

My favorite is Scorpion, and i'm not all that pleased with the way he was portrayed.

He fought great, looked mysterious, and you could identify with the mk-game Scorpion.

The one thing that i'm not pleased with was the fact that he was a slave to Shang Tsung, and ally with Sub-Zero. This killed his story.

And well..MKA, he just sucked. One scene, horrible outfit, way to short of a fight scene. The "Suckers!" punchline, sorry but that just doesn't cut it for me

BEST:

Sonya, Johnny Cage, Rayden, Liu Kang and Shang Tsung are the BEST portrayed characters in the movies.

Other good ones are Scorpion and Sub-Zero (Mk1), Kano, Goro.

WORST:

Shao Kahn, Kitana, Mileena (even though she fought awesome), Sindel (even though I loved her acting), Reptile, Baraka, Ermac, Noob Saibot, Sheeva....and many many more.

I thought Smoke looked pretty good, although lifeless.

He was all silver but I wish he was more blue like in MK3

I really don't like Sub-Zero in MKA...he seemed sorta mexican and too skinny and wimpy.
In MK1 he was pretty cool...bushy eyebrows tho lol

In the first MK movie, most if not all the characters were portrayed pretty good if not accurate.

I loved Lambert's spin on Rayden and its pretty much how I now picture the Thunder God. But it is not how he is in the game, in which he has a more subtle sense of humor (his reading of Bo Rai Cho's ending for example) and is more serious.

Johnny Cage I believe was portrayed accurately, a pretty boy who is full of himself but when push comes to shove he will back you up.

Sonya, as much as I like her character in both game and movie there is one thing I really never liked; her supposed 'bitchyness.' Then again being a woman in the military and a proven warrior it is to be expected that most people would assume she had such a attidute. Who knows, maybe she does. However, I rather have it as it was in the game where the main reason she fought was to save her men rather than just revenge on Kano.

Liu was liu. *shrugs* He was okay in the movie, great fight scenes and ok acting. But was never a fan of the character in either games or movies begin with.

Shang Tsung was one of the better protrayed character. You can almost feel evil oozing from him.

Hard to judge the ninjas, they really didn't have much to do but be threatening and lose. Wish they had a bigger part in the story.

Goro, was surprising good. I never expected such good special effects for what some considered at the time (before actually seeing it) another Street Fighter movie.

Kano, was just...there.

Now in MKA, the only character I feel was portrayed correctly and pretty damn good for the movie was Jax. He seemed to be the only one that actually tried to make the movie good. Wish Midway would take a hint from his protrayal of the character rather than use their most recent incarnation from MK:DA.

Scorpion and Sub-Zero I think was poorly made in MK:A i mean some mexican dude for subzero(i even prefer a white guy, no offense to mexicans it was just very random i think hes supposed to be chinease) Scorpion's mask was way off to the side just......dissapointing...

About Sonya, her attitude is the thing I loved most. grin
