I just realized this, since Malibu bought the rights to the MK comics, and they were bought by Marvel, and now they were bought by Disney. (Or was that contract rendered invalid by Midway's bankruptcy, and now WB owns them instead?)

Wow, Malibu? I'm not sure they even had the rights to MK comics when Marvel bought them out.

Malibu/Marvel's rights would have expired years ago.Ordinarilly if you license a property, you have to actually use it within a certain period of time or keep renegotiating the contract, or the license runs out.
Not to mention if another company had the MK comic license, it would've legally prevented Midway from producing their own comics like the MK4 exclusive and the MKvsDCU minicomic.

If Disney ever owned the Mortal Kombat franchise, we can kiss the bloody, gory goodness goodbye.

Not to mention the first MK comic and the MK II one (the ones you had to order in the mail) and that Deception one....
