I don't feel sorry for Chris, he's a very successful man and got to play Scorpion twice, in the first movie and the tv show. Instead of doing the horrible MKA he was busy doing Batman. That's pretty chill.

Agreed. I dont understand why they decided to take the Dark Knight path for this series. Batman has a lot of realistic and plausible elements to it. Mk doesn't. Ed Boon said it himself. "Reality is boring". I don't get why this thing is being encouraged. It resembles toture porn with lot of action and martial arts. That's fine if you want to do it, but don't you dare slap MK's name on it.

The other big problem is the characters. They're getting raped. Jax is just a detective. Johnny Cage sucks at fighting. Baraka is an Indian doctor who is crazy? And the worst of all is Reptile. They take a tragic infant killing disease and make it into a sick mockery. What's next is goro going to be an ex pro wrestler who ripped a guys arms off and sewed them on his body? That's not cool.

I don't know why they took the dark, grisly, realistic style reboot. Why not just make a modern update. Like the new Star Trek. There may be minor problems with the characters and mythos, but they took the concept and put it on steroids. Why can't they do that with MK? Make MK actually look like it should with today's tech.

And why the hell is this on the MK 2011 thread? Normally I wouldn't care, but this is a news lead. I get my shit moved all the time if I'm off topic by a hair.

^ Reread everything on this news lead article and you'll realize that only Rebirth's directing syle will be a part of this and not it's storyline.

I never got around to watching Conquest, and it looks like I didn't miss much.

Chris Cassamassa was heinous. That was painful. He did okay in the movie for someone without any lines. I'm sure he's a talented stunt man, but his acting chops need serious work.

OK, he was very very good and believable in the film, so, as long as he doesn't talk its OK. He's talented in martial arts and I love his crazy (yet small) facial expression in the film.

Okay, sooooo did anyone read the plot part of the article? The part that talks about different realms and magic and Shao Kahn, or no? Because 4 things come to mind

1: REBIRTH was not a trailer, but a pitch, a whole movie was never written.

2: The STYLE of directing is not why we see Dr. Baraka and Whatever-the-hell-he-was Reptile. That would be the writing. NOT the DIRECTING STYLE.

3: On top of the plot(which can't be confirmed officially until it's released), characters like Raiden are in it. You tell me how they are going to make Raiden realistic, Oh wait, I'm pretty sure it's already confirmed Ryan Robbins is playing the THUNDER GOD Raiden.

4: Just go ahead and read 1 twelve more times, and that counts as four.

Thing is, anything can happen considering the director had planned to keep some of the "magic" of MK in that idea of his (featuring DR. Baraka and whatever-the-hell-was Reptile).

But yeah, it all points to the original canon story we all know. yay!

PS: Considering that the stupid idea of DR. Baraka was made possible it really isn't that hard to come up with a stupid concept for a Raiden idea. FYI.

This is true, but once you start dealing with other realms and shao kahn (mentioned in the synopsis) Then you might as well not make everything else "realistic". Why the quotation marks?: Because having a doctor who sharpens his teeth (for no reason) and somehow puts horns into his chin by himself CAN be realistic. Some people are insane. But where did he learn to fight like Johnny Cage? Reptiles disease IS real. The oldest survivior is 26 I think, but why the hell does he like to eat heads?

You actually think they're aren't contract killers in the real world? Police departments will take on a reliable informant wherever they can get one.

MK Rebirth: Realistic? no, Plausible? quite. I still don't get all the Alan Zane hate aside from he's not the Tarkatan Baraka. God forbid somebody attempt to make the character narratively interesting because he isn't and hasn't been....EVER.
