I didn't get to focus too well on it (distractions) but it does seem to me there are two "references" or easter eggs to two different Mortal Kombat mediums.
Before I share my observation, I want to emphasize many of us are already drawing a weird parallel to Godzilla and the reptilian creature Kano faces in the Mortal Kombat (2021) film, who may or may not be Reptile. So I'm not surprised in some way if these two films, both pitting humans against monsters and in GvK's case, Monsters vs Monsters, as "battle" or "war" films, are cross-promoting themselves. Add to the fact GvK's success already caused another week delay for Mortal Kombat (Honestly since GvK streams until April 30 I would have suggested the MK film been moved to April 30 so HBOMax could have two big blockbusters back-to-back and not overlap so as much).
Anyway, here are my two observations, one is a spoiler and marked in a spoiler tag:
1. In one of GvK's final scenes, the same calm-techo instrumental plays that is heard in the climatic tournament fight in Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge.
2. King Kong finishes off MechaGodzilla by ripping bis head off, spine in tact, just like in many of the MK games.
