It seems Cage will be back, but I'm damn certain that Cyrax, Shao Kahn, and Rain wont.

First of all, is Mk, so anything can happen, I woulnt be surprised even if Sheeva came back! (wich we hope not) Anyway, I think it all depends on what game story they are basing the movie.

Cyrax:

If based on Mk4, he isnt needed, not really.
If based on MKDA, it all depends, to make him important, Nitara must be somewhere in his story, for him finding the magic ball is the impornat reason he has in MKDA, besides heloing the SF.

I doubt he will come back, I dont see how they will explain his return after he exploted by a kiss. Maybe he COULD be rebild, but I dont think thats to happen.

Mileena:

She has high chances of coming back. Her presence in MKA wasent even explained! She has a lot of potencial, and having her fight with Kitana would be awesome.

Im guessing she could be resurrected, or somehow explain, that she was never killed.

Rain:

Defenatly not coming back. I have nothing against him, but his story is weak, why use this ninja when Reptile, Sub-Zero and Scorpion are the true ones?

Shao Kahn:

I dont think he will. The movie needs a new bad guy, not him again.

Baraka:

Like Mileena, he was a waiste, BUT, he can actually come back as something more important. I mean, there where like 5 Barakas in MKA, so, why not another one? an improved one, the true one.

Johnny Cage:

Well, its obvious this character has highest chances of coming back from the dead. Just like in the game, he could be resurrected.

One thing. Scopion came back in MKA with no explanation after being blown up in MK1.

I did explain "how" some of them could come back.

Oh wait a minute. I just remembered something. I've heard some people say that in the beginning of MK3 they'll say MKA was all just a bad dream one of the main characters had. So I think that would be a good enough explanation on why these characters might come back in MK3 the movie.

I'm not joking about this. I telling you I heard this somewhere (it may be a rumor of course). I posted it here b/c I like that idea a lot and I hope they do it in MK3.

Yeah, I heard that's how George Lucas was going to explain Episodes 1 & 2 also.
