They should start off where the first one left off, so they can incorporate a proper Shao Kahn and Kintaro.
In any case, I'm willing to bet this is a direct to dvd thing that will probably make any MK fan want to puke.

Annihilation was a bit wrong, they could fit them together fine. Johnny Cage did die, and Raiden did become an elder god.

The only thing that I see wrong is that they are going straight from MK3 to MK:DA. MK4 had a big part in the storyline.
