Jet Lee, read on
Sorry to be the one to post this, but Jet Lee has made his final martial arts movie, its called FEARLES and its coming out some time next year in China no words when its coming out in the US. He said the he wants to try making DRAMA movies or became a full time MONK, so he playing anyone from MK is out the question. Sorry Jet's fans, lets hope Tony Jaa still around to play kung lao.

Didn't Jet Li just sign on to play in the Tekken live-action movie? So I think Tekken might be his last but I will check out Fearless when it is released. Either way I still like Jet Li.

Tony Jaa as Kung Lao! What's this nonsense?
Tony Jaa is a Muay Thai fighter, Kung Lao is a Shaolin monk, who's styles (when they were introduced) were traditional Shaolin Chuan and Mantis Kung Fu. Tony Jaa might be able to pass off pre-devolution reptile (who didn't use the same style of devolved reptile at all), but him being Kung Lao would be madness.
Anyway, Jet Li's neer really been that great, in my opinion.

Paolo Montalban didn't do ANY martial arts but came out as Kung Lao pretty damn well. Why would the actor's fighting style get in the way of the character? It's just so senseless.

I agree fighting styles really don't matter all too much(i didn't say at all) but I'm assuming you don't know that both Liu Kang and Kung Lao are Shaolin Monks and in the first MK movie Tony Jaa did a good amount of Robin Shou's (played Liu Kang) stunts(please don't lie and say that you could tell that it was him, cuz you can't believe me), plus the fact that Muay Thai is not the only type of martial arts that Tony Jaa knows means that he doesn't have to use that particular style to play Kung Lao.

I know Tony Jaa did the stunts for Robin Shou but, the only move that I think Shou couldnât do was that âtornado kickâ? that Liu Kang landed on the first Baraka, you know, the back flip that Kang did when Smoke hit him with that close-line look like wire work. The twisting flip just after a Smoke kick looked like Shou did it with a trampoline, and the fights with Jade and Shao Kahn didnât had any difficult move that I can remember.
Maybe Iâll look closer next time (If any).
Anyway, it would be great if we ever see Jet Li or Tony Jaa in a MK movie, of course, they would have to play the main character.
Now in the case of Tony Jaa I think it would be a waste of money having a guy that athletic shooting powers like fire, ice, snakes, whatever⦠He looks more like a young Shujinko to me, but instead of collecting powers from his opponents he can make them powerless, so theyâll have to fight him in hand to hand kombat. Could be good, could be cheap, could be Jaaâs crossover film to the US. I mean, imagine young Shujinko (Tony Jaa) vs Conquest Reptile â¦AWESOME!

I agree, but i would rather see him as Kung Lao...just put him in the costume and he's the it character, I don't kno if his acting is up to par, but in Ong Bak: The Thai Warrior he showed that his acting skills matched that of Jet Li, but to be perfectly honest Jet Li, is simply the marquee actor when it comes to modern day martial arts films, his reputation and film repetoir speaks for itself
Jet le is way to short to play Kung LAo. He is like 5'5-5'6 at most. Tony Jaa is 5'8 and physically looks like Kung. Robin Shao is 6'0 tall, so it would look wierd to have a 5'8 Kung and a 6'0 Liu. Paolo Montalban who played Kung Lao in Conquest should take the role again because he is 6'2 equal to Robin.

I'd have to agree...

i think a good candidate to play someone is Ray park (darth maul, toad) i'm not sure who he could play( he would have been best for Kano, seeing he's english, but is this film carries on from MK1, Kano is dead) If they can't find a charecter then he could be one of the robots, or even reptile like he was toad.
