"I wanted to give more color and more depth to the characters, and bigger and better fight scenes, " said Leonetti, when asked what he wanted to do in the sequel.

Who chose this moron to direct MK-Annihilation?
He had no style, no vision. Liu Kang gave those horrible and fake backflips, and wires were visible in the fight between Scorpion and Sub-Zero.
Come on!!

It's not the director's fault for poor fighting scenes and wires being shown. Try lousy editing for the wires and lousy trainers for the fighting.

It was poorly directed.

But it was also horribly written and poorly produced. Spielberg wouldn't have made a better movie with that shitty script and producers in his ass.

Funny how he said he wanted to give characters more deph when all he did was just make them random people that jumped the main charactes for no reason.

The director was inept to shot a decent fight scene

I have to disagree considering he was director of photography for the first film.
