The point of an official and authorized kombatpedia was to have a reliable source for detailed events in the story of the game. So what the hell did Johnny Cage during MK2 in the original timeline? Did he fight? Against who? And who won the match?
And Baraka, who eliminated him?
Now, there is no way that even the most competent of fan, like Razor, could know such little, undisclosed details.
Of course I am going to back it up, but the simple thing that it won't be written by an official writer, but from fans, will literally kill any notability in it.

A lot of respect for those working so hard on this. Good luck to you.
Having said that, without Boon AND Tobias working on it, I have no interest. They're the creators. They know the story better than anyone and they're the only ones who could fill in the gaps (up to a certain point with Tobias obviously). I don't want second hand guessing or conjecture from fans or guys who've only worked on a couple of the games later in the series. That isn't "official" to me.
I'm in the same boat honestly.
A fanmade Kombatpedia is fun but I want an official know all book from NRS. Fans can only interpret what lore they know and there's definitely things they couldn't know because Tobias or Vogel never explained them.
I wish you guys the best but I'll sit out on this one.

We can only hope this HELPS. However, if it doesn't - We are prepared to kickstart it and do an "unofficial" book with folks like Razer, James Fink, TooCool and others.
Hear that, kids? It's a fan wiki that you get to pay for!

Bite me.

To be honest, we hope we don't have to do that. But it would be more to help pilot the creation of an official one. Again, we still hope for an official one.

The simple truth of the matter is that Boon probably won't move forward with a project like this until he thinks its a viable option, aside from the hardcore fan-base, since apparently it's a "business" decision and not a "creative" one.
That being said, if the movement continues and he sees there is a fan-made one circulating, he may be more..... "motivated" to put into motion a real one. Besides, I'm quite comfortable and don't need to be stingy. I'd like something lore-based that is tangible instead of surfing endless pages on the internet, fan-made or not.
We thankfully got the attention of individuals at NRS and WB apparently who want the project done. Now it's just Boon who needs to be impressed and motivated. Maybe petitions aren't his thing as evident to his constant denial about the Tremor petition having any factor into the inclusion decision. Maybe seeing how far we'll go to have one would be just enough of a kick in the ass to get the ball rolling seeing that there is definite money to be made instead of a bunch of people who'd take 2 minutes to sign a petition and who may or may not end up buying a copy.
The simple truth of the matter is we live in an age where you don't HAVE to spend your money on anything. You can download MP3's from anywhere, you don't HAVE to purchase music legally. You can torrent movies on thousands of sites, you don't HAVE to pay to sit in a movie theater or buy a disc in a store. You don't have to ever buy a dictionary or an encyclopedia of any kind because there are websites and wiki's for that. Even if there was an official one being worked on right now, would the minute details really be worth a $15 / $20 pricetag for a majority of stuff that would be available on said wiki? It's purely for those who want it for what it is.

And i would support kickstarter for a fan art/encyclopedia book aslong it's true to MK with all of the original art, stages, trivia's, bio's etc. I could even help when it comes to art.

We have done a lot of legwork - Mock Ups, Presentations, Petition, Phone Calls, Spoken to DK - Phone, Email, and in video chat, Spoken to WB - Phone, Email, and Insight Editions as well. We have interest from folks who work AT NRS who have said this is a REALLY cool idea. Shawn Kittelsen practically threw himself at the chance to write this.
I'm not seeing the hold up.I just don't get it. You could have this book out by the time MK turns 25, sell it for 49.99 for standard, and do a special edition for 59.99 and make your $ back.
