I dont know what your views are on the past two flicks, but I dont think they made a big impact in the movie industry. I'm sure we all want to see this movie succeed but it's really up to the fans to make it happen. I really want to see a brilliant cinamatic masterpiece, a fighting movie that will stand the test of time. A plot that thickens with interest, haveing us on the edges of our seats.

If the movie is crap (which I doubt it will be), then fans could watch it as many times as they want; It won't have much success in the box office unless it has critical success.

Actually, both movies did.

Mk the first film, has been known since its premier as one of the best video game movies adaptations by many critics. It broke Box office records thanks to its excellent and solid story, direction, choreography, and acting skills.

MKA, this bad film, Toped the Box office records in its premiere and won a lot of money. Sure it sucked, but it sold very well.

But I do agree with you, I do hope Mk3 becomes the next Harry Potter or Titanic or Lord of the Rings in records.

Shit! I HAD a link were this was showed! All the money they made, their No1 Top debut, and their ranks.

I lost it.

Actually, I do think the first mk movie was quite a hit. I mean, personally, I don't know a single person who hasn't heard the Mortal Kombat techno theme.

I was really attracted to both movies, I just didnt know if they were big sellers. I just didnt like different actors for the two different movies. I didnt like Jax as well as I though I would. I also think it was Rain that was killed right away by Shou Khan, I didnt like that at all. Maybe it were these things, and some others, that drew some fans to dislike the movies.

I definitely will not if this movie is anything similar to MK:Annihilation, or MK: Conquest. I will tell everyone not to go see it. They would have to make it like the first, meaning don't explain mythology like the following: 2000 years ago, i fought this person, now this and this has allied with this and this sorceror and fallen god. They hold the secret to the amulate and will conquer and enslave like they did this stupid world, which is why i use my powers to stop them because it's in the rules and legend has it, it will work. Crap like that is pure shit for writing. Explain the rules of the tournement why the fighters have been chosen and then you need REAL dialogue not some bullshit taking up space to throw in as many characters as you can. They should go the route of the first one, in fact they should use it as the basis for the movie and not any of annihilation, cuz that can't even be considered a film.
movies.

The only reason MKA made as much as it (35 million) did at the box office was b/c it was highly anticipated. Assuming most people didn't realize it was gonna be a cheap power ranger ripoff b/c the previews were trying to make it look good. But it still didn't even do half as good as the first one. Maybe what stopped it from making more than that was b/c the bad reviews it got.
MK1 made 70 million at the box office and 36 million on rentals. So altogether it made 106 million. Now that's a success. Most critics and press reviewers thought it was the only video game adaptation that was well made. So technically it was a hit. Some critics gave it 4 stars and it got a thumb up.

Maybe the only way MK3 can be a box office hit is if they cast well-knowns in it. Like Wesley Snipes as Jax and Keaneau Reeves as Kenshi. Another way could be is if the film has a budget of more than $100 million, it could have spectacular effects in it (like T3 did I guess). Not to mention Cyrax and Sektor should be more deadly and powerful like the Terminatrix. If they can pull MK3 off, it could make more than $200 million. I still hope they come up with a way to make it look better than MK1 too.
Oh maybe Mel Gibson should be the director since he directed that blood graphic film, "The Passion of Christ."

I dont listen to any type of reviews. So I am going to see MK3 the movie no matter what people say. Also if it is a good movie I will see it for a 2nd or 3rd time. I think thing it will be since the producers seem to care about this movie unlike the Mk2 movie.

I'm going to go see this movie as much as possible, whether it be crap or not. It's freakin' Mortal Kombat, man!

The only thing I didn't like about MKA was that the other characters(Rain, Raptors, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, etc.) were gone about as soon as they appeared.

I can't say I really liked either of the MK movies for one reason, A movie based on a Gory, Bloodstained game should be just that, a gory bloodstained movie. The first 2 movie were just watered down. MK3 should show the over the top cinematic violence that we ALL want to see. Go for a solid 'R' rating on this.

Good point. I still hope MK3 won't flop if it's rated R. I mean it shouldn't.

I'd even love to see an MK3 Anime movie along the lines of Spawn, and going for a hard 'R' rating. For some reason MK doesn't translate well with live actors. MK is a very BIG world with alot of backstory. If it were to be done 'Properly' it would probably cost into the hundred million dollar mark which I don't think a studio wants to invest.

Actually, I think MK fits perfectly with live action actors, since that's the way it was done in the games.

And hold on a second, both movies were bad because they weren't gory but the games were? When are you people going to learn to seperate these two diferent industries!? It's like saying the Resident Evil movie sucked because it didn't have the characters from the game. It's simply pathetic.

hmmmmm,

Let's make a movie series based on the bloodiest & goriest video game franchise and take all of the blood and gore out of it.....get back on the short bus.
