While every single Mortal Kombat Game was Mature-Rated, all bits of movie media were for view for all the people who aren't even old enough to drink Smurnoff yet!!! I mean, think about it... ALL the games were NC-17 and over (well, rated M for Mature, if you will). The Mortal Kombat franchise alone was never meant for "Children." But if that's the case, then why are the following movie media rated for viewing by people who are just leaving their baby cribs?
Mortal Kombat - PG-13
Mortal Kombat: Annihilation - PG-13
Mortal Kombat: Conquest - TV - 14 (I can understand that though, because it's on TV, so they can't get TOO graphic)
Mortal Kombat: Defenders Of The Realm (Cartoon)
If the game was never meant for children, then why should the movies be? And don't hand me that bullshit about how the producers wanted "more of an audience." That's a load of crock. If the movies were R-Rated, they still would have had an audience. Most people didn't even want to see it because of it's rating. The world is mad at Threshold Entertainment altogether when they came out with MK: Annihilation and robbed us, making their money off of our ANTICIPATION. They fucked us, and you know they fucked us.
If they would have stayed true to the hard core of Mortal Kombat all togeather, and they wouldn't have as many complaints as they do now. With the movies, they need to take it back to the essance, get back to the dark roots. As much as we... the fans... love Mortal Kombat, these people need to stop fucking around with it. Stop making the movies for kids. If it's gonna be for kids, Keep it out of the Theatre. Don't nobody wanna see that shit.
Any thoughts?

If people wanted a REAL MK movie they should've had PAUL VERHOEVEN
as director not Paul W.S. Anderson.Verhoeven is INFAMOUS for using
over-the-top violence in his movies, would it be better?I'm not sure
whould the fans be pleased with an R-rating?After all the rants and raves
I hear from all the MK fans yes.He could've directed it but he was too busy
working on the piece of crap that was Showgirls.

Well, I always thought that Quentin Tarentino would do a good direction concidering that he was the one that had a say in "Iron Monkey." And I don't know the name of the director who did the first "Starship Troopers" movie, but he should have been doing Mortal Kombat as well. Trust and believe when I say... fans would appreciate an R-rated film next time... especially when one of these directors have a piece of the action.

The name of the guy who did Starship Troopers is the guy I was talking
about(Verhoeven.)After seeing Kill Bill I thought of Quentin doing MK
but then I realized that it may sound cool but it's not his thing to do MK
remember Quentin hates SFX that"s why he bad-mouths The Matrix.
Verhoeven is more interested in fantasies and Sci-Fis and would probably
be better in doing it.
Even if they decide not to do a full, all-out bloody movie (though it is the way we want it), at least make up for it like they did in the movie "Drive," starring Marc Dacascos and Kadeem Hardison... I don't know how y'all feel about that flick but I enjoyed it even though there wasn't much blood in it. There was some, and it was well appropriate at the time it was displayed. Plus there was a boat load of action to make up for it. Marc Dacascos really did his thing in that movie. For those who haven't seen it, go rent it. That's why I figured he would make a great Kung Lao.
The fight coreography done in that movie was done by a man named Koichi Sakamoto. Rent the movie and you will see his best work yet. I can't think of a better movie with his work in it. A movie just like DRIVE with just as much action with hardly any blood in it is the all too famous Iron Monkey. Loads of action in that movie as well. That's how a PG-13 martial arts movie should look like, not how Mortal Kombat Annihilation was displayed. Though I will say, Mortal Kombat Annihilation is great for kids. They should change that movie from PG-13 to PG.
But We don't want a PG-13 movie when it comes to Mortal Kombat though. We want the Games in their ENTIRETY displayed on the big screen. We wanna see some hard core, Brutal type shit. That's what I'm talking about.

I'd rather a solid, well directed, written and acted film before all the gore. That and gore would be a plus.
True. Great acting & great script is a must.
For MK to live up to its potential though, we need it R-rated or better yet, unrated. Make it as gory as the game, have the fighters use the moves from the game, make the monsters scary looking (not that goro & motaro weren't scary- i'd hate to meet them in a dark alley) Make Shang Tsung into our worst nightmare come true, after all what's more terrifying than a guy who can take souls?
They just need a really good director (i'd prefer a horror movie director, someone known for gory films) and a story that matches the game's story (I hate it when characters are not portrayed right) and actors who can actually do the moves their characters require. Also have the characters look like themselves rather than being lazy & taking the easy route. Shinnok looked nothing like in the game, that's what I mean. lazy.
