MKC imo, was a great show, and better than both the films. The fights were realistic and the choreography was easily the best, especially when compared to other shows of that time. Here's my list of pro's and cons.

PROS:
Dark Atmosphere: The atmoshpere was just as dark as the first film, if not more so. They nailed it in this department.

Great Acting: The acting was spectactular, easily outbeating the acting from the first two films. The actors definately nailed their roles and they deserve major props for their work.

Awesome Fights: The fights were very realistic; The good guys actually get hurt, which is almost a breakthrough when it comes to televiision shows. This also contributed to the realism of the show as well.

Great Costumes: The costumes were more similar to the first film than the second, which obviously is a good thing. Everybody looked as a darker version of their video game character.

Character Development: The characters were well developed; You actually cared for them throughout the series, something MKA couldn't achieve. W/o the excellent actor portraying them, this wouldn't have been possible. Props for the casting.

Originality: MKC adds tons of originaly to the MK universe, all while paying tribute to its source.

Comic Relief: Siro, Taja, and Rayden had some hilarious lines. Rayden especially, as his one liners were simply hilarious and sometimes totally out of place, which is a good thing.

Faithful to the Games: Unlinke MKA, the developers made sure it was faithful to the games.

CONS:
-Bad acting from guest stars (sometimes), a good example is the actress who played Jen; Great eye candy but on of the worst actresses ever!

-Mileena: I wasn't happy with how she was handled at all; She was suppossed to be a 'real' clone, but we go something else; In addiition, the actress that played as Kitana/Mileena was definately not as good as the previous one.

-Music: Although generally solid, the music was limited and therefore repetative. Some of the music didn't go with what was happening as well, sometimes it was even competely out of place.

-Bad FX: The special effects looked very very fake in MKC. Still, with it's limited budget, I wouldn't expect otherwise. Cleverly, the producers kept the effects to minimum so they can make the most out of them, a formula that was successful in the first film, but not quite so here.

Anyone agree/disagree? Come join in on the fun!

I can't add much more.

Although i have to say that the fighting was the best i had ever seen.

Everyone in that show could kick ass, very well done indeed. I think if Shang T. should return in the third movie I hope they cast the Shang from MKC.

I really loved the costumes, the looked great although i didn't like the fact that the good "guy's" alway wore the same outfit, you'd think they would change it from time to time.

To bad they cancelled the show i would like to have seen more story development, and we never saw smoke again, too bad, i thought he was looking great.

The only dissapointment for me is that they cancelled the show way to early. It had great pottential

I agree. Hopefully Threshold will cast many MKC actors in the upcoming film. One source tells me they are eying Sung Hi Lee to play as Frost, who was featured in the episode 'Noob Saibot' of MK Conquest.

everything stated here is pretty much how i feel as well. the show started out OK to becoming very good by the end of the series. i cant express enough how much i love the last episode, even though it pissed me off as to damn near everybody getting killed. that fight between rayden and shao kahn was beautiful. since i taped that episode i tend to watch it alot.

Faithful to the game? Like scorpion being made from a scorpion? I'd say the biggest con was that it wasn't faithful to the game series.

Outside of kung lao, scorpion, and quan chi all the actors were horrible and out of place. Although so was everyone in mka except a select few.

pro: the fighting was good, most of the outfits.
con: Suffered from some bad story and bad actors.

mkc was just one of those series you knew was going to be cancelled.
imo

I agree with a lot of what was said in the initial post. Conquest was easily one of the best series of it's kind.

I was especially pleased with a lot of the guest characters I never expected to see. Quan Chi was incredible, as some will see, I've chosen him as my ultimate casting choice.

I was truly disappointed when I heard it was cancelled. Although, even more disappointing is the fact that the series hasn't had a Region 4 DVD release.
I agree; Adoni's performance was dead-on. He better reprise that role in MK3! As for the region problem, please refer to my previous posts for possible solutions.

The show was indeed outstanding.

Coincidentally, i just watched the first episode of mkc which i downloaded yesterday.
this was the first time i watched mkc, for like...5 years.

So yeah it was bloody cool.

Btw,
I read in mkwarriors.net that scorpion WAS stung by a scorpion, but that sounds like they took that from mkc, because i don't remember it being mentioned in the games.

Pros:
*****

- Good relationship between the main cast. I get the feeling they all had a lot of fun filming and it seems to have transferred well onto screen.

- Excellent casting for Raiden. If there's a third movie, Jeff Meek should be in it.

- Kristanna Loken. Miaow.

- Nice 'original' story. Managed to give us something different but at the same time keep it relevent to the games/movies. Including characters like Scorpion and Sub-Zero helped.

Cons:
*****

- Acting was sometimes a bit 'meh'. As mentioned, mostly from the guest stars.

- I didn't like the fact that 99% of the extra cast was a woman who'd no doubt been cast for her looks and not her talent. Not complaining mind, but it made the show feel very cheesey.

- No second series.

Pros:
- The fights were amazing.
- Jeff Meek and Kristanna Loken were simply amazing.
- The music, although pretty fake, was perfect, IMO.
- The atmosphere.
- The dialogue and character development.
- The new, original characters.
- The storyline I thought was pretty good.
- The ending.

Cons:
- Most episodes were filled with plotholes.
- Some episodes didn't make much sense, such as Serpent and the Ice. That was just terrible.
- Some of the ninja masks were just way too huge. Rain's, especially, because it had this huge edge going right up to his forehead. That's not just uncomfortable, it's also rather painful if you get hit on the mask and the edge pierces your face.
- The special effects weren't decent (except the occasional good special effect, like Scorpion's serpent in Warrior Eternal, that was a pretty nice serpent).
- Some acting was pretty bad, especially J.J. Perry's acting as Sub-Zero (which was just... disgusting).
- Re-used footage.

Great, GREAT series, dispite all the cons. All it needed to be perfect was a bigger budget.

Some dodgy editing in certain episodes too. For example, in the episode 'The Master' in one of Shang Tsung's fight one minute he's wearing a leather jacket, the next he's not etc etc

That was re-used footage. They did that all the time.
