MK & MK:A Special Editions/BRD
It's been over 10 years now since the MK movies were released on DVD, and the technology has come a long way. I say it's about time we get a better release of these films with some proper treatment. Maybe even a proper Blu-Ray release (instead of the half-assed ones put out in Canada).
The first problem is with the original MK is it's letterbox transfer. Anamorphic was still a new thing at the time, but the MK:A DVD has the anamorphic presentation. Why?
The second problem I have is the audio. The DD5.1 tracks are okay, but I've always been a big fan of DTS audio, and both of these movies have DTS soundtracks available. With DVDs now having double the disc capacity now, it should be no problem to feature these.
The DVDs also lack in the special features department. No deleted scenes? No "making of" features? All we got was a couple of character bios, trailers, and I think a really quick test reel for Motoro (if I remember correctly). They could easily include the long-awaited alternate ending with Quan-Chi, maybe a look at some of the training done for the fight sequences, etc. The possibilities here are virtually endless with the amount of MK content laying around in the "vaults."
Also, Blu-Ray is now the "big thing," so even the DVDs would greatly benefit from the HD transfers that would be done for these films. I know that Blu-Rays were released in Canada, but there was very little image processing done, and many people have said that they're not much better than up-converting the DVDs.

What? Somebody has the rights, that's for sure. I don't really get your point here. Who doesn't have the rights?
I mean Warner Brothers getting the rights to include new footage would lead to The Threshold and your display pic person getting their back up.. Also, pretty sure New Line Cinema prevented The Threshold from adding anything to Annihilation, so not sure they'd want their baby touched
