Maybe we're meant to be gay buddies, I dunno.
Anyway, concerning the topic. I really think the shock value of a bloody battle certain attracts people, but I think it would take away from the movie itself
Ex. Blade is a movie with a lot of blood, now I like the Blade francise, but the excessive amount of blood kind of distracted me from the movie simply because I was more into the shock value rather than the actual movie.
Lets look at Resident Evil for a positive example. Resident Evil is obviously a VERY bloody franchise, but the movie really did not display high shock value bloody scenes, and I feel that the movies have been done well.

I have been trying to get this point accrose since I joind the forum. Blood dosn't have to take from the story, and if it dosn't take from the story, then it can only add to the movie. we have grown up, and so should the film.
Blood is a must!

think of it like this guys. they have a CARTOON based on mk, kids watch cartoons, kids watch mk defenders of the realm, kids play and buy mk. so i don't see any point of blood in the movie, since they sencelessly kill off all the plot point characters like rain in annhialtion. and i don't want to see some of my fave characters get ripped apart, coz they spared somebody

Puh lease. The Mortal Kombat games' gore is a bit like Kill Bill's, in the sense that is' irrealistic, exagerated and just so damn gory that it's funny. I don't think you'd want to see shit like blood spraying like a fountain out of Reptile's neck after Liu kang kicked his head off. The gore in Kill Bill was hilarious. But the MK movies aren't suppose to be funny, or paying homage to the classic kung fu movies where that happened. It would just look dreadful.

Some of the gore in Kill Bill movies was hilarious, but there were other scenes that actually made you "feel" the pain.
The scences with Pai Mai teaching her for example.
Kill Bill was just cheap fun, lotsa overexagerated blood and one person, taking on armies of ninjas...(Don't get me wrong, it was entertaining) Not the kind of look or feel I'd like to see in MK. I'd hope that it the next movie will be deeper into the storyline and be "cool", if it resemble Kill Bill in any way, I just don't think it would be taken seriously.

I agree, the first 2 MK movies where fine with no blood, you start sticking the amount of blood that was in Kill Bill in there and it would be stupid. A little blood would be OK in my opinion, in MK2 I found it a little hard to believe that certain people took a massive beating but didn't spill a drop of blood.
Blood and LOTS of it is a must for the next MK movie. The first two were very campy and cheesy, the next one has to be done ala kill bill. I want to see decapitations, limb ripping the whole f'n thing. Anyone who disagrees is a virgin.

it can be a good movie with or without blood, but I'd rather have it with blood, but I know one thing...I don't want some blood bath that has no real meaning or a stupid plot ex: the person who elected Quintin T. for the director, I'm sorry but if he was the director, then you could probably change the name of the movie to SENSELESS BLOOD BATH...because that's all it would be.

I think MK3 should have blood the way The Hunted had blood, that movie did a good job, nice and realistic too I thought.

The first one was fine without blood, but MKA was possibly the worst movie i have ever seen. Not that blood would have changed that.
Anyway, i think blood would be good, but only if was taken seriously with realistic bloody beatings e.g. Fight Club
