Special thanks to @gosoxtim869 for posting this as a followup to one of my posts. This is a very lengthy article and worthy of its own topic so it gets the attention it deserves. Lots of things discussed that I think fans are interested in knowing.

A Johnny Cage standalone movie?

An MK Cinematic Universe?

An Out-of-This-World Liu Kang?

See the article here for explanations: https://collider.com/mortal-kombat-movie-details-characters/

As you read this article, be careful to read it carefully. It has a lot of word play. The director or whoever mentions they used real martial artists (that was the same line Kasanoff used for the 1995 film despite Bridgette Wilson was a model, not a martial artist) goes on to say they did their own stunts. But after screengrabbing the trailer, I can affirm that is a false and overhyped statement - Tara Macken is clearly seen as Mileena in the roll-over stunt and a younger, bigger man is seen as Scorpion at times in the gym fight.

The director also pokes fun at the fact Goro was a puppet in the 1995 film. Goro is 100% CGI and trust me, it shows.

Yes. Although never stated specifically, it's pretty much implied Liu Kang and Kung Lao were, at least, relatives, especially in both 1995's film and its animated film where Liu Kang often introduced himself as "Descendant of Kung Lao." I never considered them brothers and any use of the word "brother" was meant to be fraternal.
