The third MK web series, a follow-up to Legacy, was meant to be released in 2016 as Mortal Kombat X: Generations, featuring the likes of Casper Van Dien back as Johnny Cage, Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa again as Shang Tsung (who confirmed it was fully filmed and finished) and Ray Park as Erron Black, but has never been released. According to Lewis Tan (Kung Jin, now also Cole Young in MK2021) it was cancelled, which was confirmed by director Garrett Warren who stated that NRS and WB couldn't agree on how to best utilise it and that it would be down to the fans to be make the demand to get it released (and sadly most fans aren't even aware of it existence):

“I can say this – between Warner Bros and NetherRealm Studios, there were certain things that each of them wanted from it, or to use it for.” says Warren. “And that’s basically why it hasn’t been released, because each of those entities weren’t really able to settle on what was going to happen with it and for what purpose. Ultimately, for it to be released, fans of Mortal Kombat really need to reach out and say, ‘Hey, we’d like to see Mortal Kombat season three.'”

Considering it starred Lewis Tan in his first MK role which undoubtedly led to him being cast as Cole Young in MK2021, alongside a stellar all-star cast, as well as the first ever live-action Cassie Cage, this deserves to be released for the fans to enjoy.

Well now the fantastic Mortal Kombat podcast series Realm Kast are doing a live feature on it next week on 04/03/2021, featuring director Garrett Warren himself, so set your reminders; maybe we can all get this released one day if we help spread the word and fan demand to both WB and NRS who have been the ones holding it back due to marketing disagreements:

Great compilation of old and new stuff into this article. The release of the film''s trailer is definitely bringing back all the hype from 2010 era in that we're seeing filmmakers urging fans to resurrect cancelled or roles. Ten years ago it was a lot of the cast/crew from the first 2 movies requesting fans to ask WB to reprise their roles (Chris Cassamassa being a huge one) aside from the usual original Johnny Cage from the 1992 game throwing his 2 cents here and there and interjecting himself in anything about the 1992 game.

I archived a lot of these podcasts from the Legacy era, hours of content, and I'm not sure if it's all on my site yet but man, these guys love to talk. Given the fact we have never seen, in Region 1 areas, the release of the first animated series as well as the actual live stage show, and given the "cheap" treatment of MK by WB from Legacy until now, I'm not holding my breath on this or MK Ultra Girls coming out anytime soon.

I think this needs moved to the Movie and Media forum since it's about a web series.
