Mortal Kombat (1995)
Cary Tagawa (Shang Tsung) confirmed today that the Kano/Sonya and Liu/Monk fights were shot in a clearing with set design. The audio commentary mentioned it was shot in Thailand. I am trying to get him to clarify it this was on the beaches of Krabi.
BTW - Mortal Kombat was filmed on two beaches, off the coast of Krabi. The two beaches make up the Railey Beach overall, and they are West Raily and Phra Nang. It is also important to note the waters of MK were filmed in the Malaca Strait to represent the South China Sea, which really exists much to the right of the Malaca Strait on a map.
The Rubber Tree Plantation was also filmed somewhere on this peninsula.
If you go to maps.google.com and enter these numbers into the search engine: 8.012292,98.83974 you'll be taken directly to the peninsula. Scroll to the bottom of the peninsula and those two beaches are on the left. You may want to find a Krabi map for specific beach locations (pretty much when a rock formation splits a part of the beach that becomes a new beach).
MK was ONLY FILMED in the Autyuthya(sic) Historical Park in Thailand, not any parks nearby as Annihilation likely was.
Mortal Kombat Annihilation (1997)
As told to me on Facebook by Talisa Soto, MKA did NOT premiere in Los Angeles and did NOT have a premiere anywhere, which explains why critics hated it (they always hate films they can't screen first).
Mortal Kombat (2013)
May 29 - From the twitter of Kevin Tancharoen @KTANCH:
Had lunch with Joss to chat about action sequences today. Got some good tips! #mortalkombat2013
Recently Kevin T informed a twitter fan that news about the MK movie was coming soon and worth the wait, as well as asking fans if a particular electronica song would go with his movie, I believe painting it as something to do with Cyrax.
More to come as needed on these exciting developments...
