For the most in-depth, in-detail, Mortal Kombat lore analysis vids, there's only one source:

It looks the official site launched by Threshold Entertainment, www.mortalkombat.com, is now down. A Whois check reveals that they bought the domain back in 1995, and confirms that it is not set to expire until 2021. Treshold's main website, www.thresholdentertainment.com, is still up as are its sister sites Threshold Animation and Blackbelt TV, so it is unlikely to be any server or hosting issues.

What do you suppose is going on with the site, then? Perhaps the domain is in the process of being transferred from Threshold to WB/New Line/Netherealm Studios, either voluntarily or via a court order. Do you think the site will go back up soon, and if so, do you think it will have gone through an update of some sort?

Interesting. If WB has acquired it, I wonder if it'll be used for the game itself, or the upcoming movie. Either way, it's about time.

I've always disliked "themortalkombat.com".

Thanks Kombat for bringing that to our intention.

I have a couple theories -

1. It becomes the domain to use as the portal to everything MK by WB.
2. It becomes the site for the video game.
3. It becomes the site for the new movie.
4. The web link will no longer be used.

I doubt 4 is true but nevertheless a very interesting development. I was just at the site a couple days ago and can't believe it's finally now taken down after all of these years.

I suspect 3 is true because we are due for news on the movie. We learned first about the MK movie in January 1994 thanks to GamePro yet the movie did not actually begin filming until August 1994. Here's a recap of what that issue said: "Issue 54, January 1994: pp 30 - First acknowledges plans for a movie and TV show. "ProNews," pp 259 - More in-depth about the movie; Plans to have it set at Shaolin Temple, we know what to expect if we played the game and it will be easy to make (said New Line president Michael De Luca to Variety), and they're aiming for a PG-13 rating (according to Kasanoff)."

KONFIRMED ^^ - As the above poster mentioned, if you go to:

http://www.thresholdentertainment.com/ and click on Mortal Kombat you will now be taken to the new site owned by Warner Bros. Which means this was an action committed in compliance with the recent lawsuits and hopefully more details, especially which one of the three suits, this pertained to and what documents insisted Threshold do this.
UPDATE: Going to MORTALKOMBAT.COM will now take you to THEMORTALKOMBAT.COM. It is official, Threshold no longer owns any rights at all. R.I.P. Threshold Entertainment.
