Butttt let's not jump to conclusions about how different to the source material it'll be. I might be making it up but I remember reading somewhere that part of the deal was that it wouldn't go toooooooooo far from it. Maybe there'll be mystical aspects, just without quite the "whole other realms" thing... *shrug*

And yeah, I would have expected/preferred a younger actress to portray Sonya in order to pull off very tough and awesome fighting scenes, but, I'm sure Jeri won't disappoint.

She's a very big name so that's a huge plus for MK and for Sonya.

She is also beautiful, so, that's one thing "checked" on the list of what it takes to portray Miss Blade.
