Now, last I knew Elissa Cadwell was actually playing Nitara. But a recent rumor and being brought on by a vLogger suggests a recent IMDB change assigning Mel Jarnson as Nitara: https://twitter.com/FutureboyWho/status/1377531951523979270

While Elissa is actually a stuntwoman, it wouldn't exactly be out of place that someone confused Elissa, dressed as Nitara as a stuntwoman, could have been her stunt double and erroneously cast as her.

As of right now we have only seen a backside of Nitara and she also appears to have black or brown hair (Elissa is blonde while Mel is brunette).

This article just regurgitates what's on the Internet and doesn't actually fact-check anything: https://gamerant.com/mortal-kombat-new-photo-nitara/

There is no official confirmation Mel is Nitara. However, there is actually no official source confirming Elissa Cadwell IS Nitara (and as you'll read, you'll see that could have changed). This is the earliest news article I found speculating Elissa is playing Nitara, from around the end of the 2019 principal production, and cited Greg Russo's Twitter: https://dontfeedthegamers.com/mortal-kombat-movie-reboot-new-female-cast-member/

Despite Greg Russo being the screenwriter and what we later learn serving as an expert to the producer/director, we cannot consider anything he says as official until the film is actually released. That's because he doesn't officially make the final decisions and nothing is final until it appears in the credits or is confirmed until after the film is officially released world-wide in its final form.

Add to the fact Greg Russo's original tweet, often requoted on several news sites (mainly regurgitated movie fan sites) HAS SINCE BEEN DELETED, therefore adding fuel to this speculative fire (also suggesting maybe Greg spoke out of turn if indeed Elissa as Nitara remains true): https://twitter.com/WriterRusso/status/1193971136305872897

And despite this only being a rumor, because things like this really do happen during or after production (it actually happened with the Sonya casting in the 1995 film, despite the fan Vlogs and fan-inspired news sites, Cameron Diaz was NOT the original Sonya Blade but was the only major mainstream person worth mentioning 15 years since the first film when it was reveled):

This Reddit leak (not always reliable) has a comment that suggests Elissa was originally cast as Nitara but replaced for "creative reasons." This rumor definitely deserves some deep searching only because it wasn't until around the late-2020 reshoots did we learn Mel Jarnsen had been cast: https://www.reddit.com/r/MortalKombat/comments/lnj2tn/from_mel_jarnsons_instagram/

We CANNOT CONSIDER SOCIAL MEDIA OFFICIAL SOURCES, only SPECULATIVE/RUMOR SOURCES, even if the poster suggests something is true by stating it's true or giving subtle hints, what Daniel Nelson and Nathan Jones have notoriously done. As of right now, Warner Bros has not officially confirmed the casting of Kabal or Reiko, nor have they even formerly acknowledged Reiko's existence; only set leaks of concept art and social media suggest these castings are true. Daniel Nelson and Nathan Jones have shared images and confirmed themselves they play these characters (Daniel as Kabal and Nathan as Reiko) but nowhere in Warner Bros' marketing have they came out themselves ans said Nathan Jones is Reiko; or that the bald guy we fans say is Reiko and was leaked on the set been given an actual name yet; and nowhere have they confirmed Daniel Nelson is Kabal, although each actor's social media posts suggest this. Still, it remains true, Warner Bros. has not confirmed the existence of Reiko let alone Daniel Nelson or Nathan Jones involvement (for that matter I haven't heard them mention by Kabal by name but his design definitely gives us 99% relief that is Kabal we are seeing and most of us are 99% sure we are seeing reiko;

THIS SHOULD MATTER BIG TIME. Recently, in the trailer, when Kung Lao is fighting someone, the laser effect appeared to mean it's coming from Kano. However, recent new footage shows Kung Lao is fighting Sub-Zero yet surrounded by lightning (possibly confused as Kano's eye laser). Why? Could this mean that indeed Sub-Zero is Kung Lao's opponent or, what for it, that for some reason Kano and Sub-Zero are fighting Raiden and Kung Lao? (This is purely fan speculation). My point is, we shouldn't speculate because we won't know until 1) we see the film ourselves AND THE END CREDITS or, 2) the most feared way because it opens the probability the film will be taken out of context, that we learn about the film BECAUSE THE EARLY THEATRICAL RELEASE DATES MEANS THE FILM WILL BE SPOILED BEFORE THE REST OF THE WORLD, NAMELY EUROPE, AUSTRALIA AND THE USA and thus, when it hits here in the USA, if we want to know the plot, we will as spoilers and leaks are highly anticipated starting next week.

Elissa's official profile doesn't state she is playing Nitara but does suggest she did stuntwork on the film, possibly only stunts for Nitara: https://www.stuntbookaustralia.com.au/member-profile-details.php?sba_member=611
