This has bothered me for years ever since I saw the film. When we first meet Kano and Shang Tsung in the club Kano says something like "Maybe me and Sonya could share a cabin... our own little honeymoon" and then Shang Tsung replies "If you so much as touch her Kano *flicks a switchblade* you're ..........................." I had no idea what he said there and then Kano twitches his eye. What did Shang Tsung say?

I always thought Shang said, "Your going to have to see Nighthawk" after he flicks the switchblade, ie - the knife is called nighthawk...dunno if that is right, but that is what I interpretted it as.

Hopefully someone who has the dvd can put on subtitles and reveal whatever he really said, although sometimes they can be wrong too...

Thats an interesting question.

I dont think we know for sure. maybe he cant see, maybe he can. O_X

lol, yeah that seems like the simplest answer. Thing is though, Kkano flicks his one regular eye, so I guess we're lead to think that he doesn't see through the other one.

thats not how the joke was directed though. he was obviously commenting about one eye because of Kano's ... well... dissability. if he was commenting about both eyes, the joke could have been used on anybody. and script writers don't want a just anybody joke for a movie when they have a perfect target to make fun of.smile

PS- congratulations to anybody who understood that.

My interpretation was that old guy, Shang Tsung (and those in Outworld) ain't too high-tech, and so he just assumed that Kano couldn't see through it. He's probably not too familiar with infrared technology, as the last time he was on Earth was 50 years ago.

even if he didn't kill Chow, they would still need at least two other referances to Shang's technollogy impaired-ness in the script for ]{ombat to be right.

He knew about technology. But did not understand it. Check how he refers to and behaves towards Johnny Cage as an actor/martial artist (disguised as his master Boyd).

Shang knows about technology. So Scorpion would be familiar with computer hacking, since he's an infiltrator assassin.

Scorpion as a computer hacker... sort of hard to imagine, but makes sense. did they have hackers in 1990?

Kano did have a seeing-eye dog, he was eating it in Goro's throne room tongue. If I was Shang Tsung and gave Kano that warning, then pitted him against Sonya on my island later, then Kano blows her a kiss, I would leap onto him and pop that friggin' eye out! Tsung must have a weak memory, to forget his own threats. Imagine Scorpion infiltrating on a computer -- a virus enters his computer and he spear-heads the screen grin!
