robin shou is perfect(repeat:perfect) for Liu Kang role.
however the problem is HUGE.
i don't trust about Mk Devastation,i'm afraid that will be another flop.
one of the main causes is right Robin shou absence.
this bring us to three options:
1)unprobable:someone else take robin shou role of liu kang
2) probable:the movie will have the actual heroes(johnny cage, jax, sonya, kitana, for istance) and will be based on MkDeadly alliance, where liu kang have a small role.(this is also the best choice)
3)it will be a prequel of the first movie and will talk about MK Sub zero mythologies.

all three options sucks, but the best choice is the second.

While I'm upset as anybody that Robin Shou, who, to me, WAS Liu Kang won't be reprising his role, I remain hopeful... but not too optimistic.

What the series needs is a swift kick in the nuts, figuratively speaking. MK 1 was a fun, decent movie. MK 2 was just bad from start to finish.

But, even now, if MK 1 was to be released, it would be held to a much higher standard and would be universally reviled. So, what the franchise needs is a restart. A remake. A re-imaging. Sort of what Batman Begins was after the debacle that was Batman & Robin.

A Sub-Zero-centered movie would work brilliantly I think. It would have expansive, vast locations (from China to America to Outworld, fire, ice, etc.), the characters we, as fans, really actually care about (Sub-Zero and Scorpion), and would be self-contained enough to provide actual character depth, intense fight scenes, and a more "realistic" and less campy look at a bizarre and unnatural world through the eyes of someone else. It could work. Will it? Er... we'll see.
