Should Tony Jaa play Lui Kang instead of Robin Shou, or should he play Kung Lao instead. That way, Robin Shou would have to do his own stunts. (Tony Jaa was his stunt double). Personaly, after seeing Ong Bak yesterday, I think he'd do either character justice.

I think he should play Kung Lao. Robin is already Liu and I hate to see characters played by other actors. Just think of James Remar as Rayden. It was HORRIBLE ...Christopher Lambert IS Rayden.

Seeing his major influence is muy thai, i`d say no...there were no muy thai fighters in the mk series. Just because someone has a good movie doesn`t mean they should automatically be thrown into every martial arts role out there....would make for alot of bad casting besides....jung lao speaks english wink

Since the first movie did so well, most people love Robin Shou and they love his character and persona that he brings to Liu Kang's character. I think Tony Jaa is a better martial artist than Robin Shou, but Jaa should definitely be Kung Lao. He's almost a perfect fit besides the guy from Conquest. Oh yea, and anyone that doesn't think Tony Jaa isn't a good actor or a good martial artist pretty much has the intelligence of a ladybug.

In the movie Jax used....umm....metal arms ...fight....yea. That was his style...and ghetto speak. Is that a fighting style? And where was Kobra in the movies? Ummmm....nowhere since MK5 wasn`t a glint in the eye of the MK universe yet...or is he in 6....which ever. The movies were before the characters were given set martial art sets. Thus to which i was referring. Tony Jaa did do Lui Kangs stunt doubling in Annihilation, so anything is possible....just sucks for him that MK:A was his 'break' into the american movie scene.....ouch.

Jet li sucks, and kung lao is my fav character. How about Kung Lao from Conquest to play.... kung Lao!

I hear Robin Shou has a contract to do 3 movies with the guys making the MK3 movie if it goes ahead.... so he'll be Lui Kang again.

Remer rocked as Raiden... Give hime some more fights. Lambert is a top actor, but i preffered the mk2 Raiden.

Bring back scorpion from MK1 and Nightwolf from MK2 n give them plenty of fights.

When i first previews of Ong BAkk, i thought immedialty that, "that guy there should be Liu Kang hed be perfect."
ALl the boays should be fighting in the movie in a huge tournament for a few mins or something just for them to say they were there.

Okay I wanna get this off my chest. I may be wrong here but i keep hearing people say that Robin Shou has a three movie deal with New Line, right. Well if my mind is funtioning right, he has already done the three movies.::

Mortal Kombat (that's one)

Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (that's two)

Beverly Hills Ninja (that's three)

But as I said before, I may be wrong.

He might be good as Kung Lao. I would choose either him, Mark Dacascas, or Rick Yune (Die Another Day).

Why can't Robin just find another stunt double? Does he have a contract that says that Tony Jaa is the only guy who can be his stuntdouble or something?

I didn't know Robin wasn't allowed to sign more contracts.

oh nooo lambert should play raiden def...he has that calm voice and calm way of acting that a god should have...and he also has that dry sence of humor...just so fabulous...hes a great actor, espcecially in Highlander...the only thing is that I neither see lambert nor remer make that silly sounds that raiden usestongue

I think that Takeshi Kaneshiro from House of Flying Daggers would make a great Kung Lao. Just picture him with the hat and you have Kung Lao. dont know if he speaks english though. Tony Jaa doesnt really resemble Kung Lao that much though. Christopher Lambert is the only person that can actually pull of being Raiden.

I dont think that Linden Ashbey would make a good Johnny Cage anymore. He is (or was) on a lame Soap Opera my mom and sister watch called Days of our lives and hes gotten alot older and doesnt really look the same.

Well, think about it for a sec. How much time has past between each of the games? Look at how much older Sub-Zero has gotten in the games. Realistically-speaking, Johnny Cage should probably be a little older-looking than what he looked like in the first game/first movie, correct? Maybe I'm being too realistic about this, though. It is MK, afterall. Lets all hope that Linden can still pull off being a cocky-ass he brought to Cage in the first movie.....and worry about apperences after the movie is released.

And dear christ.....I sincerely hope he wasn't serious about bringing Remar back as opposed to Lambert for Raiden. He might have been able to fight decently enough, but was way too stoic and stuffy to be Raiden. Lambert made the role. Stick with what worked. I would rather see a guy who can play the part near-flawlessly and not fight much, than seeing a guy fight alot but bring no personality to the character.

in deception that isnt the original or even second sub-zero it was sub zero 2's grand son plus the film starts before MK:A so they would only be a couple years older than the first film

In Deception isnt the original SubZero Noob-Saibot? And I thought the Subzero in Deception is the brother of that Subzero just older? Hell he even still has the scar on his face. And i doubt that the scar is a Lin Kuei trademark. tongue

vengence why do u say jet li sucks? the only reason why his american movies kinda suck is cause he's alreayd getting old & they give him bad fight directors. if you've seen his old hong kong movies, you'll see jet li at his best. you should watch Fist of Legend, his best movie. he can do alotta crazy moves that most humans can't do. also back when we was young he was faster & did flying kicks better than Tony Jaa.

I think they should get anthony market who played kunglao in the games or possibly tony jaa could be anthony markets stunt double. That way kung lao could be a good actor and a good a fighter....

Ho Sung Pak could never be Liu Kang or even his stunt double. Keep Ho Sung Pak to which character he's good at. Shang Tsung.
