I think that the story of "Mortal Kombat" should be serialised instead of being made into 90 min movies. They could make a 4-parter based on the first tournament that carries through to the "MK 2" timeline, then if the first was successful a second mini-series could be made telling the story of "MK 2" which would end on a cliff hanger for an adaptation of the 3rd "MK". As long as it had a big budget (think "The 10th Kingdom") and well-trained, young actors I think it has better potential than big screen movies. Especially with less time restrictions (i.e. 90 min movie; 4 hr TV mini) they could make it closer to the cannon plot of the games and not reduce characters to tiny cameos (ala "MK: A"). Anyone agree?

No don't agree at all!
because they can do a Second season for Conquest based with actual Hereos(LIU,CAGE,SONYA,ecc).
They can do a second season, but just don't Want to do it.
A TV miniseriewill be surely a flop because his low budget.
If yu have to do something,yu MUS do it wel, don't forget.
And i'm afraid that Threshold will not make well..

That is the biggest nonsense I've ever heard. The first movie was awsome, wasn't it?

TV Mini-Series' can have very big budgets, like the aforementioned "The 10th Kindom" which had a $40, 000, 000 budget and "Dinotopia" which had an $80, 000, 000 budget. Both of those were also very successful, too.

I'm certain that the MK story cannot be properly told to please most of the fans through a 90min movie every couple of years (or in our case every 9 years). Also, I didn't mean make a second season of "MK: Conquest."

I mean that Treshold can save his money to make a season 2 for conquest, instead of a low quaity mini series.

That's actually a pretty good idea, but I really think that the story of the 1st MK game could be told better now with the much improved special effects, etc. Also, with four hour-long installments the story could be told more faithfully.

Also, do you really think that a mini-series would be worse quality than a full season of "MK:C"? I mean, as good as the show was, it was really low-budget and cheap looking... A large budget for less eppies would result in much better quality production.

Thanks for agreeing! I thought more "MK" fans would want to see the story retold from the beginning properly, but hey....

Well, I'm from the UK so I only know about a few US networks. Since this is "MK" I'm thinking HBO? They'd allow pleanty of violence and some language... After all, as it's only a mini-series, the it'd really be like deciding to show a movie, i.e. after the first series was made (about 4 parts) if it was a success they would agree to have a second 4-part series made of "MK 2," and so on...

I'm sure it would be less complicated and all round better than a full 22 episode TV show like "MK:C"...

That was New Line Cinema's fault and that's why they are no longer involved with MK3 (the trial was what delayed this movie from being filmed).

I'm sorry,i'm not a cinema expert o a tv expert(especially for american productions) but i'm sure that NOONE will pay a $ more than normal for a MK movie, even if it will be a Tv mini serie or a movie.
Sorry,give in!Sad but true...sad
