If cage lost the match, then Sonya would have no storyline and the whole movie would be liu kang and raiden, and we would be seeing what happens when Tsung still has a body guard under his controll.

On a personal note, i think that if this did happen then the film would have sucked even more then its sequel did.

If Scorpion killed JC, it would not have changed the second movie. As for the first, Scorpion would then go on to fight against Sub Zero in an epic battle that would not make sense considering they are under the magical control of Shang Tsung. However Sub-Zero would come out of it victorious and then go on to lose against Liu Kang.

didn't Sub-zero get turned into an icee before cage fought scorpion? i forget, it's been awhile since i'e seen it.

well it would save us a couple minutes at the beggining of the 2nd movie and he would already be dead. also we would lose a classic catch phrase.

What really confuses me is that JC beat Goro but liu kang gets credit for winnning the tournament
