In a movie anyone can kick anyone's ass, the script descides who wins.
My vote goes for Chris, he did well in the series and in MK1

Exactly, unfortunately he's too big of a star for MK: Devastation though

No offense, but who cares who plays Scorpion? Unless he gets an important role this time and actually speaks, we just need a stunt double (like Cassamassa) to play him. However, if the yellow one should actually get an important role, then yes, get a bigger name to play him. (Which would be hard, because celebs like to see their face on film, not hidden behind a mask.)
nobrainer •07/06/2005 02:47 PM (UTC) •

I don't think Jet Li would suit Scorpion... Chris Cassamassa has the right face for it... It should be him, or someone else again, but not Jet Li.
By the way, where does Cassamassa come from? Is it America?

Chris is from Pennsylvania originally, so yes, he's United Statesian. As far as bloodline goes, that's anyone's guess. ;)
And as far as Scorpion not being Japanese/Chinese/Korean/Barbeque, just because he lived in Japan and had a Japanese name, it doesn't mean his bloodline is rooted in Japan. He could have been a war orphan for all you know.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! People who are big stars like Jet Li would never be in a Mortal Kombat movie! Her's one reason if Jet Li would be in the MK movie or any other huge movie star people would know the movie as "Oh, let's go see the new Jet Li movie!" I don't think the producers and everyone esle who make the MK movies want to hear that I think they want to hear " Oh, let's go see the new Mk movie!" What I'm trying to get at here is no big movie star would ever be in a little movie like Mortal Kombat.

KEEP CHIS CASAMASSA.
Jet Li has a completely different movement culure, he would not fit Scorpion. Scorpions style of fighting is not the overly agile gong fu of the chinese but rather the straightforward arts of Japan and Korea.
I doubt Jet Li would even fit as Kung Lao. Lao has shaolin styles, which can be recognised from -for example typical for Lao- of the high reaching kicks, and less movement around the opponent. And of course mantis.

Ok. Chris was Scorpion in the first movie, and as I see it, did a perfect job of portraying the character. (I don't know what the hell the above person was saying about him needing to speak to be important...."Get Over Here" is about all he'd really need to say, and many people would be content) Chris also did the TV series, and also did a good job. He's got the talent. He's got the experience. He knows the character by now.
Why would anyone want to replace him is beyond me, especially when he's availible.. Granted, Jet Li would be nice to have as a character in a future MK movie (Kung Lao is the popular vote)...but there's a slim chance of it due to him being a big-name star. Let's stick with what works.
