This is probably the best cast I have seen for MK movie. The actors are spot-on,but I would put personally Scott Adkins for Kuai Liang/Sub-Zero Jr. and choose somebody else for Jade role. And Aleks Paunovic still works as Shao Kahn IF he wears a helmet for God's sake.

Not everyone needs to be Asian, only the characters who are actually Asian should be played by Asian actors. The Outworld and Edenian characters are not Asian, therefore should not have Asian actors play them. The dude they picked in that video for Rain was a terrible choice. I think the same actress should play both Kitana and Mileena, but for Mileena they can add in some CG for her mouth and stuff.

As you can tell Im mostly concerned with Kitana, Jade, Sindel, Rain, and Shao Khan. Those are my favorite.

I think Marielle Jaffe is perfect for Kitana, she is young, hot and exotic looking. I really liked how Lena Headey looked in 300 and think sometime similar to that would make an awesome Sindel.

No offense but a lot of those are horrible choices. Being famous and slightly resembling the character should never be the primary criteria for casting. Nathan Jones for example was a horrible wrestler in the ring and on the mic. His acting is also abysmal, he'd completely ruin the part.

Part of me would love to see Jackie Chan in this movie, possibly as Raiden or even Shang Tsung. It woukd be nice to have big names in this movie to gain more interests. I'd like to see a real bitch play Mileena, maybe even Megan Fox. Whoever plays Shao Kahn needs to look badass and wear the helmet!

We don't need big-name actors and actresses fucking up Mortal Kombat.

Not only are their salaries going to eat away at the budget, but their stupid opinions and the opinions of their agents are going to shit all over our beloved mortal kombat universe. The fact that they want lead roles is going to cause too much tension for the writer(s) and director. Look at what happened to Street Fighter. That movie gave way too much screen time to Guile, and why? Because some tool-bag decided it'd be a great idea to shove Jean Claude Van Damme in it. Not just for his "awesome martial arts" ability, but to get his fans to watch it. Did it make the movie any better? No.

I wish people would be a little realistic when choosing a cast.

I kinda just chose that cast based on the actors appearance.

According to IMDB filming begins in March 2012, so Im assuming the movie has already been cast.

I just hope it turns out better than Legacy. Not that Legacy was bad, it was actually really good and stuck to the canon, for the most part. But some of the cast was a little off. Especially Shao Khan, Kitana and Mileena. Khan is supposed to be this huge muscular intimidating guy, Thats why I said Nathan Jones, not that he should actually be cast, but someone who looks similar to him.

Here we go:

1. Considering the timeframe of that story they were in late teens/early adulthood.

2. I thought Sam Tjhia did a good job as Kitana despite her voice being soft but IMO in the scenario of that episode it worked.

3. What rules says they arent Asian because they are tricking otherworldly species plus it makes a lot more sense that characters using Asian wardrobe, Asian weapons, and lives in a visually Asian Influenced world have Asian actors playing them. IMO

4. Even if Sam Tjhia wouldn't get the part again as Kitana, there are other asians that can pull it off such as Celina Jade, Yifei Liu, or possibly Jamie Chung.

5. I do agree that the last thing this film needs is a load of star power.

Yes Sam Tijah was very talented, but you can tell they only cast her for her martial arts ability, but they forgot about the exotic beauty part. Sam just looks like a 15 year old Asian girl. I also would like the costumes to be closer to the 2011 game, but more realistic and slightly less slutty.

Talisa Soto was good eye candy but not Kitana imo because nothing about her said deadly assasin which Kitana ...to be fair part of that is the writer and director's fault though

I am just not a fan of Asians playing Outworld and Edenian characters, who are not Asian.

Lui Kang is Asian, Kung Loa is Asian, Sub Zero is Asian, Scorpion is Asian. Kitana and Sindel are not Asian. They are from Edenia a completely different world.

Besides the fact that the first mocap actress to play Kitana was Hispanic , it's likely that she's Asian because of these reasons:

Asian influenced visuals in the setting of Edenia, Asian influenced fighting tactics, wardrobe, weapons and names...Yeah definitely reeks of caucasian there and regarding Jade for all we know she could be either Thai or Indian nothing says she's otherwise.

Which is also why when the original MK3 was made and they got rid of the Asian motifs of the previous games Kitana, Mileena, Subzero with a mask, and Scorpion all went away with it alongside Raiden.

I agree we don't need big name actors. Keep the cast from Legacy and find a Liu Kang and it should be alright. Although, they should probably find a new Raiden.

What's with all the Asian fan choices for Sub-Zero? Isn't he supposed to be American? Also, about half of the cast should just be stunt men is costumes with voice overs.

They're half Cryo-mancer and half American. Cryo-Mancer is not a real race, so they're just American.

I think it'll be cheaper and better for heavily computerized costumed characters like Ermac, Baraka, and Shao Kahn are played by stuntmen with the likeness of a professional actor for their voice talents and facial features, instead of unknown martial artists with low acting ability(80% of the Legacy cast.)
