The beta is dropping less than a month before the game ships. I'm no game developer, but even with a day one patch, how much can they possibly change / correct in such a short period of time ? Especially if the community universely hates the way Ex moves are done. They cant just flip a switch and change it to one button, not to mention all the text in the moves list.

They really should drop the beta earlier if they actually want good feedback before launch.

I'm sure a lot of the fine tuning can be done on the back end and then officially patched at a later date.

I’m guessing it will act primarily as an online stress test if I had to wager. I’d also expect them to gather data regarding moves that are too strong/weak, and to find loops/infinites if possible.

Outside of that these betas that are so close to release are essentially demos. They’re also a way to convince people to preorder by playing on those FOMO heartstrings. Want to play the game early via a closed beta, and get Day 1 DLC? Then you better preorder!

I just wonder how many characters will be playable in the beta

I'm mostly hoping it has single player/local vs and isn't purely online vs. I have to get used to that Scorpion nerf and I suck too bad to do so vs online people, lol

I don't think it's so much an actual beta, as a glorified Demo.

That said, I'm just hoping someone doesn't hack the game code and extract the entire script of story mode word for word again. Because. I have no self control, and I'll read it... and then regret I read it later when the game releases.

Not that that's happened twice already or anything.
