Considering that Sindel and Jerrod are Caucasians, I suppose that she should be too.

I never quite understood the sentiment that a fighter with a Japanese-sounding name and Japanese-inspired weapons in a heavily Asian-themed game should be portrayed as Latin.

I like Talisa but an Asian appearance just makes a lot more sense to me. Her father Jerrod even has an Asian appearance in the age-old comics, and in Ermac's MK9 ending.

Sindel looks mostly Caucasian, but Jerrod not so much. Unless you're talking about the actor in Legacy. But no one ever talks about Legacy.

I always thought of Jade as being more like the darker-skinned South Asian types, but her portrayal has been kind of all over the place so far.

If Jerrod looks Asian and Sindel looks Caucasian then Kitana should look mixed.

Mixed Asian and White folks often look primarily Asian. Not Latin, in any case.

Sindel could pass as a lot of things, really. Her MK9 design seemed kind of ambiguous as far as facial features go. I just sort of default to thinking of her as Caucasian because of MK3, and the fact she reminds me of Bride of Frankenstein gives me European vibes. But in MK3, even Chinese Ninja Warrior Sub-Zero was played by a white dude despite being obviously Chinese in his MK2 ending screen, so *shrug*.

How can you guys say Sindel looks Caucasian and not Latin when her hair is mostly grey and she has no pupils in all of her appearances? And she was originally portrayed by Lia Montelongo who does look Latin in real life.

Well Sindel, as I said, is kind of ambiguous to me. Maybe her original actress was Latin, but the hair and makeup mix up her look quite a bit.

As for Kitana... after looking it up, I just noticed that Kitana's MK2 actress was Cuban. So I suppose there really is a precedent for her appearing Latin outside of the movie. Still, her original Tobias concepts were intended to be Asian: her name being a portmanteau of "Kitsune" (her original name) and "Katana," both Japanese.

I'm just going to chalk it up to questionable casting in the live action days. If anything, making her look more Asian brings her closer to her roots, and usually people are pretty on board with characters sticking to their origins.

Well yes I agree with that but she doesn't have to look primarily Asian necessarily. My kids are mixed and they do look like a combo of my wife and I. Not primarily one or the other. Although it may be hard to really nail down a mixed look anyway for video game purposes.

PS. I've always thought of Jade & Tanya as black... though I freely acknowledge they have been all over the place, so argument and alternative interpretation doesn't really surprise me.

You didn't get my point. Grey hair and lack of pupils make it quite hard to determine one's ethnicity in the game, that's what I meant.
