The original actor who played Shang Tsung has been retweeting some serious MK11 related news, cannot be a coincidence right? RIGHT?
Even in December already responded he wants to do it, which once revealed could've been a hint or he seriously wants the opportunity, but NRS didn't care to ask him:
War Chief @NiteKrow 12 dec. 2018
If Shang Tsung returns in #MK11 (which is something I really want to see) I would love him to be voices by @CHTOfficial!
Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa @CHTOfficial
DITTO..
How dumb would it be of NRS not to use him if he actually wanted to do it?? Nobody can voice Shang Tsung like that man and to me, he made the MK movie along with Christopher Lambert and the guy who played Liu Kang.
Also a nice hint by Boon: This character will "blow everyone's mind", which rhymes with the notorious catch phrase "Your soul is mine".
Probably not, but one can dream right :)

Seeming more and more likely with all of Cary's tweets happening!! please please let it be true!!

His return was already discussed in another post a few weeks back :)

Uhm you also want attention then?
lol...no need to get salty.

Uhm you also want attention then?
I think they're just calmly informing you that this theory has already been posited, and the topic has already been discussed in another thread, so if you'd genuinely like to see more of people's thoughts on the subject, they're out there for you to seek.
I mean the second post ended in a smiley for crap's sake.
Quit being a baby.

New recent tweet from Cary has me thinking he's 99% Playing Shang again! He's being very cryptic
Apparently, fans at the event were being discouraged from shouting "MORTAL KOMBAT" because NRS wants to distance themselves from the movies. Jeff Gerstmann (who was there) mentioned it briefly on today's Giant Bombcast (timestamp at 13:20).
I'd take that with a grain of salt, but it's something to consider.
Personally, I'd love to see it, especially with the really disappointing portrayal of Shang Tsung in the last couple games. But I have my doubts.
BMK was also there chilling with his homie Jeff Gerstmann and can confirm this story. Although this is because of WB Games, not NRS.
That's strange for NRS to say because the original MK1 advert had the MORTAL KOMBAT! shout before they did it in the movies intro. Maybe they want to distance because it was MIDWAY then?

While the dates and facts would seem to indicate you're correct, I'm assuming it's because at this point, the scream is very closely associated with the Techno Syndrome theme song, and the Techno Syndrome theme song, at the end of the day, is a creation of the movie.
I mean tell me when you hear the scream, it doesn't immediately kick off techno syndrome in your brain? lol...
BUT, that said, many casual fans don't really realize the theme is associated with the movie, and think it's the theme for the entire franchise. When in fact it isn't.
IN FACT... when the original trailer for MK11 launched, it didn't take fans but like... a day, to remix it, removing that horrible rap track they used, and replacing it with techno syndrome, and in point of fact now that I think that through, that might be EXACTLY where this came from. They might have seen the remixes, and then gotten some PR mandate 2 days later saying, "Okay, we need to downplay this" ... they may be deliberately trying to get people to disassociate from that theme song, in an effort to get the new music/theme over with fans.
But I hated that track, so... nuts to that.

^ This... um BIG NO. What the stupid fuck did I just read at 4am? "Techno Syndrome" was recorded in 1993 when the first game just came to the consoles and first released as a single before being released on The Mortal Kombat album we all love and know. The movie started development in 1993, most of it wasn't even filmed or written until 1994.
I agree, he seemed more like what I thought Shang would be like based on the games, that's not to mean the guy from the movie isn't cool as well, he's actually fairly iconic in that regard but Locke was awesome as Shang on Conquest.

That reply is just so "sweet" :). Think he would never be "treathend" by himself portraying a character :). You will be next! :D
Really hope he's in.

Look, now Baraka has grown hair and beard! Shit, the time does fly...
I always thought that Tagawa had the near-perfect voice, posture, gestures, and the overall "aura" as Shang Tsung but not the looks (REALLY long hair, not Tagawa's shoulder-length; goatee, not clean-shaven; snake-themed garb, not the leathercoat...), whereas the other actors had Tsung's actual in-game looks but not the required elements Tagawa had. The ideal Shang Tsung to me would be the one with the, say, MKDA looks and Tagawa's voice, posture, etc. Andrew Kishino did his best in MK 2011, but I simply failed to get attached to his Tsung. I commend the MK 2011's Tsung's design, though I mostly saw it as a rehash of his looks in MK3 and MKvsDC.

What if Cary played Movado? He already looks badass in a leather coats...

That doesn't really add up, since the Johnny Cage fatality has an almost identical reference to the first Mortal Kombat movie: "Who hired this guy?!!"

Maybe those were Shang's thugs in the movie. They could fight, but not act as they weren't used to modern Earthrealm. Shang was testing him with real fighters, not stuntmen.

CALLED IT!! *Happy dance* this is the greatest news!
Just watched legacy and if Tagawa cannot pull off that original movie voice and portray him well, then he can be out. Not as hyped about him, such poor portrayal of Tsung in that. Partly writing, but also acting skills.
I doubt Tagawa was bringing his A game to Legacy due to what a half baked shit show that was. It didn't really give him much to work with.
