I'd have an easier time telling them apart if they both didn't have ponytails
Well ok we agree they have same height and hair and in general look alike. That is a thing (if it is) only if you are watching, not playing. But again there are so many details to distingush characters from which colour is the last one. And even the colours are not exactly the same.

Yeah, it’s kind of a navy blue and gold costume. It actually really cool looking, but agreed, it’s pretty jarring seeing scorpion repping those colors.
Then don't select them.
What if the AI chooses them? What if those colour schemes are used in story mode?
You put on your big boy pants and deal.
I shouldn't be barred from selecting any damn color I want just because you have a personal hang up with a blue Scorpion.
That's called being selfish.

LOL. Let them discuss their valid concerns, this is a forum for doing such, and a large number of people have these concerns for the aesthetic and established character colors that have become a huge part of the characters. Instead of "selfishly" shutting them down and telling them to put on their big boy pants and just deal, rather than adding anything meaningful the the discussion. you should look up what's being called "selfish" here Ankha.
Well it is selfish some people wanting to establish their aesthetics over the others. The solution is that there must be an option for those who like and those who do not like changes or different aspects. So if someone wants scorpion always yellow, he can choose that colour and nobody will tell him anything. Same for those who want a blue Scorpion. If someone doesn't even want to see a blue Scorpion he can always play MK2 and there is no problem with that.

If someone doesn't even want to see a blue Scorpion he can always play MK2 and there is no problem with that.
Bingo. Problem solved.
It's ridiculous. If people feel that no one else in the world should be allowed to make a blue Scorpion, then where does it end?
I don't like Jax. So should Jax be barred from MK11 just because Ahnka doesn't like seeing him?
That would be selfish. It's perfectly fine to say that you don't like changing color schemes, but to DEMAND that no one else be able to- I'm sorry I'm not going to sit back and let anyone take away my right to have whatever color I want just because they don't like it.
Get over yourselves, people.

Playing mk2 is not a solution and makes zero sense to the argument.
The color schemes are fine, I think they look great actually. But as an MK fan you are completely lost if you do not comprehend the significance of the colors of scorpion and sub-zero. So it’s warranted for true fans to be a little shocked at the decision to include those colors.

Oh my God, I've been playing this game since 1992! You really think I don't understand the significance of these character's colors?
I understand it, but I also am able to have an open mind and understand the point of customization. You act as if they are taking away the default colors- THEY AREN'T.
What the hell is the big deal?

At exactly what point did anyone in this thread demand that no one be able to use these colors?
I see some "I don't like them" and "I won't use them" but not any, "I demand you remove them!"

What would be neat is if the costume colour options and accessories that NRS provide for the characters had a chance of triggering a different pre-match dialogue where the characters comment on it. It would be probably a ludicrous amount of time spent in the recording studio for the voice actors, but the idea of Sub-Zero confronting a blue-clad Scorpion on his secret, shameful love of coskuei is fun.

Not one person has stated that the color options should be removed. For the most part I don't like them, for the most part I probably won't use them. I am glad that there are customizable options for those that love them. But it can be jarring to see a blue scorpion, a yellow subzero etc, as these color schemes are very established for the characters and lore. But each to their own, the options are here and they should stay. But the criticism of some of these color options is valid and should not be shot down and told to get your big boy pants on or go play MK2, that is not a solution, or a valid discussion when addressing said criticisms, no one is attacking you or your right to use these new color schemes, just stating opinions and trying to have a dialogue on how they do and don't work, remember it's a forum right? I hope there are even more customization options than the ones we have seen, doesn't mean i like them or will use them though. But i'm all for everyone getting to make that choice for themselves, but i definitely have my own reservations about "some" color schemes for "some" characters, mainly original palette swap characters as those limitations of the palette became their lore, and character defining color schemes, the limitations are gone, but the established aesthetic lives on as it should.

I see some "I don't like them" and "I won't use them" but not any, "I demand you remove them!"
And I saw a few "They shouldn't be in", "I don't want to see a blue Scorpion AT ALL", "What if we see those colors online? The horror"
Come on, stop trying to make it look like another case of Ahnka going off for no reason. Despite me being a little too passionate sometimes, you can clearly see who and what I'm responding too.
I already said, people who don't want to use those colors are fine- my post isn't targeted at them.
If it doesn't apply- let it fly.
I actually like the color optuosns alot. I just wish they were liberated like in mk6 or vf4 evo.
It would really be cool if you could change their skin color too... I know this might be too much to handle for some. I really enjoyed the kreate a kharavter in MKA

See that's the problem, I can't clearly see who you're responding too. I was genuinely asking: "At exactly what point did anyone in this thread demand that no one be able to use these colors?" because I couldn't find the culprit.
The thread is a page and a half long. It's not hard to read each post in this relatively short discussion. Absolutely no one has put forth the notion of banning anyone else from using these colors BUT YOU.
Some of us dislike them. Some of us have said we don't plan to use them. Some of us think they hurt the characters' established aesthetic. Some worry that a homogenized color palette could lead to confusion during actual gameplay (IE. White & Red Scorpion vs. White & Red Sub-Zero creates difficulty reading the screen on the fly). And yes, some have even expressed distaste for the idea that they could appear on AI characters or online.
No one has proposed anyone be barred from using these colors or that they should be removed, yet you've argued against that point in at least 3 separate posts.
In point of fact, the first person to put forth the notion that anyone be barred from using these colors was you, in the 8th post of the first page... In all caps, opposing a sentiment no one had expressed...
I really dislike the whole "I DON'T WANT ANYONE TO BE ALLOWED TO CUSTOMIZE CERTAIN CHARACTERS COLORS BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE IT" sentiment that's going around here.
If you don't want a rainbow Scorpion, don't make one. Let people enjoy things you self-centered grouches. Damn.
You come into threads, you stir up a fight that doesn't exist with people who aren't arguing with you, you rant, you name call, you're condescending. When others express strong opinions you don't agree with, you accuse them of being attention whores and drama queens (while claiming to not be one yourself) but when you do the same, you excuse yourself as "being a little too passionate." You're quick to shut down any post with an opinion you mildly dislike, yet any time anyone challenges your opinion you're just as quick to dismiss them.
Hell, I'll go on a bitch-rant from time to time, I don't love everything about this game, nor every topic of debate that flares up around here, but at least I cop to it and try to laugh it off. If I had a dollar for every time you and I got in a fight, then Spider took the piss out of us with a smart ass remark and I told him I <3'ed him for it... I'd have like... at least 3 to 5 dollars.
If you don't want it to seem like another case of Ahnka going off for no reason, stop going off for no reason. Try being polite. Try quoting, heck, try reading more than just the sentences that annoy you. Try focusing on things you like, instead of telling us all about how much you hate the things we're saying or the way we're saying them. You're not buying the game anyway right? What do you care!
If you don't want to be accused of going off for no reason, try not walking into a thread leading with a complaint, "I really dislike..." and finishing with an insult, "...you self-centered grouches. Damn." about a topic that you introduced yourself, "I DON'T WANT ANYONE TO BE ALLOWED TO CUSTOMIZE CERTAIN CHARACTERS COLORS BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE IT"

This obviously needs repeating. If this doesn't include you, then what are you going back and forth with me about? I said what I had to say and it still stands for ANYONE who wants to make a big deal over what colors people choose.
I'm NOT backing down on that front. If that's not your point of view- THEN I WASN'T ADDRESSING YOU.
I'm going to say whatever the hell I want to say and give my opinion on whatever I please- I may not be purchasing this game but I am still a fan and a member of this community and will exercise my right to do so. If it doesn't concern you- then move the fuck on.
Plain and simple.

still jarring to see well established aesthetic be thrown out the window, while it can look cool, they could do a lot more with the color options while avoiding breaking the status quo completely, since we don't get to choose our own color palette and it is just different pre programmed color swaps for skins. not a fan for the ones that break it like image below.
One moment, imagine if NRS were revealing for example kollector and he was blue, then the next week they were revealing cetrion with her being the exact same character but green. Maybe someone would like that, but i say that this would be terrible for this era of fighting games. I can excuse that for the early games, when the budgets were low and the colour vs colour, rather than character vs character thing, was ok and hype. Because those dicisions were acceptable for something that it was at its very basic state. And i enjoyed that. But today things are different. Scorpion is not a yellow Subzero, nor Subzero a blue Scorpion. Their designs, despite their colours are different. Does it break any well established connection? Yes, but because any form of progress does that, and in this case it is just that more realism means more differencies to a point that colour becomes only an option. So a blue Scorpion is something fully combatible to this era, because it doesn't make him Subzero. And it isn't taking anyone's chromatic place because it is only an alternative.
Now i would like to ask for a colour or shader editor, but i know it would require some effort. So i only ask NRS to put an option for the existing gear colours to be selectable no matter the skin.

How is that a double standard? People can say whatever they want to say INCLUDING to me- that's how message boards runs. I have no issues with that.
The last quote was targeted at those who took what I was saying PERSONALLY in an attempt to make it clear that they shouldn't if that's not their stance (which they have stated it isn't).
If what I'm saying doesn't concern you, then move on- no need for senseless bickering. If it does, then bring it.
No double standards here. *shrug*
Yeah, it’s kind of a navy blue and gold costume. It actually really cool looking, but agreed, it’s pretty jarring seeing scorpion repping those colors.

Actually, Ankha has a very valid point.
If the AI so chooses to go with a certain skin (though that is actually impossible since we create the variations the AI will use), we would have to put our big boy pants on and just play through it. This is especially the case when it comes to other players' variations. It's called choice. I should not be kept from making my choice because you don't like it. That is the very epitome of selfishness.
We are all being given the option to create variations how we see fit. You wouldn't want someone obstructing your choices, so don't obstruct theirs. Simple solution.

How about we stop arguing over who said what and just agree that every one has been bringing out valid points?
Let's take a page out of Elsa's book and...well...you know how it goes I'm sure ;p

Where was it confirmed that the AI only ever plays with the variations the players create?
