I'm depending HARD on the DLC being good. Once again that will be the deciding factor on if I'll get the game.

The roster is everything in fighting games. So far this roster isn’t his cup of tea and he’s waiting to see how NRS rounds it out. What does fandom have to do with making an informed purchase?

MKX was the first MK game i didnt get because of the roster and massive amount of guest characters however, I did beat the entire story mode and looked up every ending on youtube. The colors, crap roster, and the gameplay difference from MK9 turned me off. This game has colors, lots of gear, great gameplay and they are adding more modes and DLC and looks like this game is going to be massively updated compared to any other MK game ever. They tried to do with MKX but they would have to rewrite everything to add skins winning poses etc. This game is going to be great and the story is probably gonna be crazy af. Expect 3d era characters to also be in the DLC. They have been in every game that had DLC. I'm bummed out by lack of ninjas too but this game is still hype.

How did you beat story mode if you didn't get the game

What DLC character announcment would it take to get you to buy it? If it could only be one? Rain and Tanya or would anyone else do it? Overall im good with this roster but am really hoping for Reptile or Smoke as DLC, but im a sucker for classic Ninjas, after that Rain, then some more 3D erra characters. But still a day 1 buy for me, ive bought every MK game to date, even though disliked plenty. And how are you feeling about base roster this game vs base roster MKX? Overall i like this base roster more, though i originally thought Rain and Baraka were gonna be base in x and we know how that went

The same way I kicked people's asses with Tanya without ever getting the game: I played someone else's.

Personally, I don't use DLC as a factor when it comes to Mortal Kombat, as I don't feel the DLC is worth the price. However, given the amount of customization this time around, if the DLC characters also come with a great deal of customization options, I may spend 5 bucks on one.

I honestly don't believe anyone posting here about not getting the game day1.

I really don't know what my post count have to do with rather or not I buy this game. Yes, I'm a Mortal Kombat fan and have been a part of Mortal Kombat Online for years and yes I love talking and speculating about each new MK title- but I don't feel the need to just jump and get anything with the MK name slapped on it if it doesn't appeal to me. MK11 is appealing, don't get me wrong, but it's not a title I'm jumping up and down about and after getting MKX and barely playing it once I completed story mode- I don't have time and money to waste just to play through the game a few times and then sit it on the desk for it to dust for the next however many years just out of "duty" of being a fan. Not I, said the fly.

Very good questions! I think this roster is MILES better than the roster of MKX. And don't get me wrong, the MKX roster would've been pretty decent if it would have had Fujin, Baraka, Rain, Tanya, and Bo' on the base roster. But by having two of them be unplayable story mode NPCs, one being in the cinematics only, and the last two being DLC after the fact- it just left the base roster looking quite hollow- overwhelmingly MK1/MK2 along with the MKX newbies- which I understand- but left little diversity for us hardcore fans. Those are my feelings at least- I know like 10 other people will come rushing in telling me how wrong I am, but hey, that's how I see things.

But there's no argument that MK11's roster is way more appealing, way more diverse- I just need a few more curveballs for DLC, ya know? We got Skarlet, we got Frost, we might have Shinnok- all great starts- not if they can possibly slip in like maybe 2-3 more 3D era characters (That aren't Kenshi/Quan Chi) with both Kombat Packs combined then I'll be a happy camper.

Hell, I'll take a solid 2 more- That means us hardcore fans will have a little more diversity beyond MK1/MK2/MK3/MKX- If things can look like this-

I'm just asking for 5 characters outside of the Trilogy era. We have possibly 3 in the base(if the Shinnok leaks are true) I just need at least 2 more for DLC. 2 out of possibly 12 overall DLC characters- I hope that's not a tall order. Eek.

Thanks, was just curious on reasoning and i get it. I love this franchise and have since 92, but that doesn't mean they don't drop the ball on a lot. But I feel the base roster here is very strong and will hopefully be supplemented with two packs of 6 and hopefully no more than 4 guests total. I think there is a strong chance of seeing more 3D era characters. I was shocked to see Frost on base roster. But if we dont see them they may be dead forever at this point. It is time to bring a few more back i to the fold, Frost is a good start but it cant stop there, we need at least a handful back for a second chance. Fingers crossed its in 11 for 2 or 3 more of those lost characters

Oh yes, the MK11 base roster is pretty good. I have a few gripes (Jax I could have done without) but all in all, it's a good start to hopefully a great finish with the DLC choices.

And it's not just 3D era characters I wanna see, but I definitely want Takeda and Kung-Jin in as well. They were my two favorites and it feels weird that almost every MKX debut has returned except them. I'll be slightly disappointed if they aren't DLC. If there's no Reptile, that'd be weird as well.
