I'm very disappointed in netherrealm studios after seeing the reveal of mortal kombat 11 I'm not excited for mortal kombat 11 at all and I'm a huge mortal kombat fan but after seeing how this looks and plays I'm very disappointed.

The combos don't look as fluent

The characters look to much like fornite characters.

The game has the same concept art and animation of injustice 2

The fatalities aren't even fatalities they are just victory poses form injustice 2.

The character customization is very identical to injustice 2.

And the music does not even sound mkish at all everything sounds like fucking rock music playing in the background. It doesn't sound dark or scary or creepy.

I wasn't happy with mkx but after seeing this it just makes me look at mkx a whole different way.

This is not the mortal kombat I grew up with.

The last good mortal kombat game was Mk9.

No shit?

You sound like one of them fat Star Wars nerds in their 40s who expects the same thing in a different generation.

NOTHING will ever be like what you grew up with. You are old now. Get over it. The music will never be as good, movies will never be as good, NOTHING will ever be as good as it used to be. It's part of growing up.

O come on. I totally get why you'd be disappointed concerning some aspects of the game, but it can't be all bad. We all have expectations and preferences, but it would be unrealistic to actually expect all of those personal preferences and expectations to be met in a new MK game. In regards to all the things you would like to see, you have to compromise, and also acknowledge the good parts. Especially in a franchise that is as old as Mortal Kombat. The MK we grew up with belongs in its own decade; it's the product of its own time with its own cultural and artistic influences. You can't maintain all of that as the years go on, because times do change, and so the game changes along with it. Doesn't mean that every change just has to be accepted or liked, because I'm sure as hell critical of many aspects of the game, but at the same time, I can let my personal ideas go, and still enjoy a new chapter. There's a Mortal Kombat that exists in my own mind, based on nostalgia, my own creativity, and my own interpretation of the stories and characters.. but that's my own personal, ideal Mortal Kombat world; I wouldn't actually expect NRS to produce a game that exactly matches what exists in my mind. That's unreasonable, unrealistic, and kind of delusional, really. You gotta let that slide, you gotta let them interpret the world for themselves and let them have that creative freedom (even when they mess up), because if you're just gonna hate on everything they give you, you become a bitter fan who only complains about the negatives, always reminiscing about 'the good old days'.

No Mortal Kombat game ever looked better, right? Which MK game had a better designed Baraka? For the first time, Shao Kahn's going to be a true (balanced) playable character. You haven't heard the music for all the arenas yet. You haven't played the game, so you don't really know what combo potential it has. MK2 is usually loved by older fans, and it didn't have an MKX type combo-system, and to me, MK11 kinda resembles MK2, in many ways. The game will have multiple costumes, so that shouldn't be much of an issue either. You can pick and chose which special moves you want to use. I mean, there are many plus points here. You're simply holding a magnifying glass over the negative aspects, ignoring all the good stuff.

OMG! I just literally almost fell out of my fucking chair!

I must admit, NRS have made this game look downright embarrassing in some places.

I don't think I've been pumped for a MK game since the mid 00s. Quite sad.

The characters looked awful in MKX. Too waxy for my taste. Remember Johnny Cage’s fugly face?

But I am glad they’ve improved in that department for MK11.

Well i can share your opinion in those two points. Actually I feel the same as Maximillian. I am 38 years old and a casual gamer. I love MK and I love to chain combos togetehr and find new ones with more damage MK11 won't go this way. And I don't know how to think about it. Some Krushing Blows can chained into combos but also can only be used once. So... MK11 is more tactical and not based on combos, like I would prefer.

But it looks great and I like most of the designed Kharacters. I just hope they give me more opportunities to build combos.

I have some concerns about MK11, but I will wait to see more before freaking out. I did not care for MKX -- one of my least favorite MK games. I agree, MK9 was better, and one of the better MK games.

Agreed. I was hoping MK11 would have gone in a completely different direction this time, rather than just playing off their previous project. I was hoping they'd be influenced by what's been trending in fighting games over the last 5 years - tag mode, fast dashing/mobility, and easy combos, but combos that offer a ton of options. I'm not saying turn Mortal Kombat into a Japanese fighter, but there are reasons why people enjoy those features so much and I would love to see Mortal Kombat's take on that system.

I disagree about the fatalities. I think they handled combining Fatalities and Win Poses in a smart and satisfying way... plus there are a ton of Brutalities as extra options if you don't want the brutal "win pose" finisher.

The customization IS very similar to Injustice 2, but I don't think that's a bad thing. I like the feature, but I'm really REALLY hoping there are a TON more options for gear that we haven't seen yet, since it seems like everyone just has a different color armor-plated vest.

I agree the music should be dark and creepy, but I'd favor a Rock style over the Hip Hop they've been using in the trailers any day of the week. Hip Hop does not fit at ALL with the MK universe, imo.

I also share a concern that I think a lot of people have that this will be a ranged spam fest again, like Injustice 2. "Choose a character that teleports" isn't really a good answer to that problem. It's too early to say if this will be an issue, but having super meter that constantly regenerates seems like it'll only encourage that more.

It's the natural transition of things, the latest games from long running series differ so much from the first few ones.

I think it's fresh and looks interesting enough to draw me in again.

I'm not too impressed with the Fatalities in MK11. It seems like they're loosing their creativity. I also do not like how the freezing at the end is in the finishers.

The major thing I'm worried about is this customization. I've been playing Injustice 2 for a very long time and I've still yet to unlock some of the extra parts. It seems to take forever to get any in-game currency to build up to enough to unlock anything and I'm not spending an extra $100 or more dollars just to unlock something that should be unlocked in an easier fashion. Games like those turn me away.

I can hardly play Injustice 2 anymore because I've become so bored with it now.

I dont know what game you’re looking at but this game looks incredible visually. As far as the gameplay goes, I love that they got rid of those ridiculous 100% combos and make you actually fight and use your brain. The customization has already been said to not be like injustice. You will unlock everything just by playing the game and if you go by the Noob Saibot pic leak they have anywhere from 30-50 pieces for each gear which is incredible

Still remember a lot of people saying the same thing to mkx, that turned out to be the best selling game in the franchise and the best selling fighting game of the generation

Sorry, but I don't think that threads like this one are going to be useful.

It's just a long complaint without any effort or suggestion or feedback to "improve" the game bringing up a lot of supposed problems that problems aren't, like the graphics and character design (both are good, imo).

The game is not out yet, the Fatalities have nothing to do with Injustice victory poses and everyone is free to vote with their wallet.

Acting like Abraham Simpson "back in my days....." with broken English is not going to give us any good reason to exchange information or creating positive criticism to the game.

I for one am a day one mk fan, I was there during the arcade Golden age when mk was like the 2000s' Pokémon and I was still there when Special Forces was released and Tobias left Midway. And I can say without a doubt that MK has never been so good. Mkx especially is imo the best chapter of this 25 + years saga.

Well, ya can’t please everyone, I guess.

Personally, I love the graphical quality in this game. The faces are leaps and bounds above other games in the genre, the backgrounds are foreboding yet also colorful and stylish, and there seems to be a ton of customization options to unlock.

Sure, I’d love more 3D era representation on the roster and for some overused classics to take a game off, but otherwise, I love the roster, love how much personality each character has in their moveset, and definitely like the new mix and match special move aspect. This alone has me interested in characters I peobably wouldn’t have otherwise cared much about at all, which is high praise.

I think they’re really perfecting their formula here in a variety of aspects. Granted, if you hate the formula itself, then there’s not much they can do to make you like this game, but I see this as a now twice evolved version of MK9, which I definitely liked. More special moves and long combo strings became variations and long combo strings, which became customized variations and more organic combo strings that still allow for some fun creativity.

I’m much more excited for this game than I was for MKX, but that’s just me. Hope it turns out well and even the people not super enthralled by MK11 find enough to like to make them happy with a purchase (should they choose to take the plunge early on).

I actually feel this game is a great improvement from MKX.

For one, they actually didn't throw away the entire new roster from the last game. The costumes look better, customization is a great addition, and the story has potential for actually being decent.

I still find some faults in the game, but I'm satisfied enough to buy it.

This! Absolutely this. I am way more excited for this game than I ever was for MKX. And I have to also concur with Legion Ivory that I am very happy with the fact they didn't ditch the majority of the new characters from the last game, and that the story mode already looks like it will be better than X's very lacking story mode.

@ErmaSco this is music to my ears, my man. Based on all the gameplay footage I've watched I already thought it looked like a modern version of MKII gameplay, and I'm very happy to hear that's basically how it is. I much prefer a strategy oriented (in terms of zoning vs. pressuring vs. footsies) fighting game over a combo execution oriented fighting game.

The Stress test for me solidified my hype. For all you people that think their aren’t combos and juggles, apparently you haven’t played the game yet. Go on YouTube and look at some of the insane combos you can do with Scorpion and Skarlet. Just because you haven’t see or performed any long combo strings doesn’t me they don’t exist.

Oh definitly yes. Mortal Kombat 1 en II are still my favourite. The atmosphere, the grimmyness (yet "colorful"), the characters, the way it played. I'm kind of tired that elitists think every fighting game should be a combo-fest. And I'm quite tired of hearing complaints about there not being combo-potential, yet if you look on youtube, what kind of combo's they already pull out of it with just a few days of play.

I'm glad NRS isn't forgetting this is a game for everyone, not just for elitists or tournament players.
But MKII vibe and play for the win!! I was already glad when they got their groove back with MK9. I'm even more glad they're going back to some more "traditional" fighting style (or give people with that kind of fighting style a chance)
I also like the character "balance". Classics characters mixed with recent additions with new ones. Something for everyone.
One week to go before I can try it myself!!

I wasn't a fan of MKX, but admittedly I'm replaying it now on PS4 (picked up the MKXL version for cheap) and it is growing on me.

I still think generally the story is a mess and characters like Cassie and Jacqui are relatively useless wasted slots, but it is not worth losing sleep or being mad over.

Still going to buy this day one.
