Raiden has always looked white?

Yeah, the gold better be customised. Definitely not digging the shiny shit. I fear it's the same as MKX, where characters were really shiny and actually became part of the background somehow, which is what really bothered me.

After watching @tabmok99 's video about Shao Kahn's arm, the stuff on Raiden's arm makes me think that he was mostly right and that it may spread to many characters. Dark Fujin anyone?

Basically Raiden is an Elder god, so he is not defined by a specific race. But as he was mocapured by Carlos Pesina and played by Christopher Lambert he could be considred more caucasian than asian. It's a mixed bag as sometimes he looked more asian than caucasian. (Carlos Pesina is Spanish?)

Especially Raiden in MK1 and MK2 we can see some asian influances. Besides the facial features, Raiden does wear a chinese hat, and the Chinese character for thunder "雷" is visible on most of his costumes. Also can we see Raiden's face sculped a bit more asian looking in the Raiden MK2 klassic statue by Pop Culture Shock Collectibles. (Imo they captures the faces of the characters really good)

Rather Raiden is caucasian or not, i think as an elder god he should not look caucasian or asian perse. Something in the middle should suit Raiden the best. Especially as he's wearing alot of Asian inspired clothing.

You'd think a character based on a Japanese god would look... Japanese.

It doesn't look like a glove to me. I know that hand is closer to us, so it may just be the render, but that hand also looks larger than his other hand.

I think the similarities between how his hand and Kahn's hand look are too big to attribute to coincidence. Maybe it's just a cosmetic customization though.

Looking better at his hands, it seems that his left hand is waaaaaaay bigger than his right hand (the one holding the staff) even if you take in account the distance, body position and perspective.

Hope that the body proportions aren't as bad as the 3D era.

I just hope they will keep MK style for costumes instead of all the flashy plates super heros armors ala Injustice.

He's looked "white" in every single installment prior to this, so why are these complaints cropping up now? Maybe it's the political climate these days that's placed an overemphasis on an individual's skin color. Before I digress any further, no one's ever claimed he was based on any god in traditional religious lore, as far as I know. He may have been inspired by a god of Japanese origin, but, through the history of the series, not once has it been stated that he has any ties to any of the Japanese gods. Besides, it's not like NRS pays much attention to detail when it comes to a character's face.

It's not only that he's wearing a fingerless glove with a texture that's just a few shades darker than the skin on his fingers, but the weird stance that Raiden has adopted that gives the impression that not only his left hand is unusually large in comparison to his right, but the entire arm as well. Contrarily, his rearmost arm is abnormally small compared to the one in the front. His front arm is in perfect proportion with the hand, so there is no deformation. Speculation is nice and all, but I don't see anyone attributing that to a theory that he's suffering some sort of dwarfism in his right arm. Until proven otherwise, he's just Dark Raiden.

Damn it, I saw that just yesterday. So much for my theory.

I echo the sentiment of Raiden (and Scorpion too) looking way too much from Injustice, I hope the shaders and alternate costumes or costumization opstions allows us to change to something less cinematic-DC style.
