Well we have to blame our fellow fans for that. People were yelling all over social media about how "old" Sonya looked. Sadly NRS had no choice but to make her look younger.

Yeah which is unfortunate that something that was logical was changed cause of some butthurt people. There is a thing as listening to much to the fans. Same with skarlets hair. I loved the short haired looked and that was changed aswell. Hopefully it'll be a gear in the game

Lets be honest. This fandom is butthurt on every single thing that comes out. I for one played the beta and I must say I am starting to like it more and more. I had to get used to different play a little bit. I am glad i preorderd my game. But it really is time i am getting my hands on sonya. She looks like she plays as a totally different kharakter wich i am excited about. And I need her variation moves.

I agree 100% here. They made the wrong choice in changing her hair to what it is now. The pixie cut looked good on her and, in my opinion, actually suited her better. Each character had a lot of empty slots in the skins category... maybe we’ll be lucky and get a few skins with the short hair back.

As to the thread topic:

For Jax I wish they had kept his MKX face. I liked that one and I don’t see why they had a reason to change it.

As for Sonya, I was happy with her MKX face as well... though after they fixed her MK 11 face I gotta say that one looks great too. Really I’d take either. I also really prefer Tricia as her voice actress to Ronda. Tricia portrayed Sonya very well. Nothing against Ronda! She’s just not an actress and it comes through in her line delivery.

(Side note) I’m very happy with how good Cassie’s face turned out. Compared to the very first face shot we saw of her, the new one is spectacular! Same for Jade! I think her face turned out beautiful.

While on the subject of faces... I’ve always wondered why (with the exceptions of MKDA, MKD, and MKA) the faces in the MK games were never very consistant. Always changing. Sometimes for the better and sometimes to the tune of “OMG! WTF happened there!?” Just always struck me as odd when other fighting franchises seemed way more consistant (most of the time). Not a huge deal. Just something I pondered from time to time.

Hopefully (with the faces better than they’ve ever been) they’ll keep these faces going forward.

^ I agree 100%. Jax's new look was jarring, because he was so different, but he's grown on me. I think the only one that really got me was Liu Lang. I thought he looked much too young, at first. As I've had time to process it, though, I'm coming around.

I wish they had modeled Sonya after her MK3 actress, Kerri Hoshkins. She’s around Sonya’s age and looks incredible. Beautiful woman.

Her Mk11 face... the nose. It’s so bulbous.

What bums me out the most is the absence of her special moves. No leg grab. No square wave. No upwards bicycle kick. No cartwheel. No arch kick. No military stance. No kiss. No grenades.

My heart.

It hurts.

Hopefully I'll get used to them, but at the moment, I'm not a huge fan of how Jax and Johnny Cage look. With Cage... It's mostly his mouth, I can't put my finger on it, but something about the way his lips are rendered looks kind of weird. Like I said, hopefully I'll get used to it once I see him in motion, or in conversation a bit more.

As for Jax, mainly my complaint is with the Old Skool version. I know that there's supposed to be a juxtaposition between their past and future selves, but the Old Skool jax looks way too young. He looks like a college student, not a high ranking soldier in a Military organization. He should be at least 30 years old, and he doesn't look like it.

Sonya is my main ever since mk 1. So I feel your pain. I have watched a lot of gameplay and custom variation video’s about sonya. I was sooooo bummed at first. But her leg grab is now a leg breaker and i must say i love it. Her energy rings are wild as hell and very usefull. Flying kick is back and amplified it looks like it can bring hell. And then the air grab it is such a nice kombo ender that i am actually am getting excited about her new moves and gameplay. Bud-E looks cool but i am sure i wont be using it a lot. Except when i preform her 2nd fatality wich looks awesome. But i Will miss her kartwheel and arc kick. Bicycle kick and her Kiss not so much seeing we have not had a bicycle kick in years and her Kiss was getting more useless. Especially in mk9
