All the goofy voice acting this franchise has had in the past damn near 30 years and yet you can rest assured that even if Rhonda does a solid job, some people are still going to bash her simply because they don't like her.

So I hope she gives a performance that's right for MK11's incarnation of Sonya rather than trying to please the unpleasable.

Alright, since this thing is a done deal I will stay optimistic in the hopes it turns out well.

I'm in the same boat right there with ya', brother. It's not like the voice acting in MK has ever been award-worthy, let alone award-winning. Sonya's voice has always been a bit monotone and her personality relatively one-dimensional, so it's not like adopting the role as her voice actress would be a hefty undertaking in the least. Both Ronda and Sonya are independent, strong-willed women possessing fighting prowess most men couldn't match.

Not that unique a perspective in this corner of the Internet, chief. When Mortal Kombat was released in '92, I was nine years old. So, I have vivid memories of playing the game (Scorpion's "GET OVER HERE!!" and the knuckle-bruising "Test Your Might" mini-game are the first things that come to mind). It's always nice getting perspective from someone who's been a fan from the very beginning, though.

"Rowdy" Rousey is a badass and would submit most if not all of her critics. Sure, she may not be the best at playing a character in WWE, but she's learning and she's improving. The fact that she dove headfirst into an unfamiliar element and grabbed the bull by the horns says enough about her self-confidence and willingness to take more than a few bumps on her way to greatness. I don't understand how such a strong personality could be so disliked for taking on a simple voice-acting role, especially when that role is in a game where voice-acting isn't exactly the focal point.

yea like mk was award winning in the voice over department for 25 years : eye roll:: the irony is despite all the bitching you will still be in line waiting for your copy. prove me wrong

She will do fine.

Sonya is easily the most iconic and important female in the series.

Or they can bend time where none of the kombat kids were born buddy.... Everybody bitching about Rousey voicing is just funny and you all keep making up conclusions in your head that are not even real lets number the rants...

1. Her voicing sonya does not confirm she is playable, it could be for story mode.
2. WWE promos are way different then they were back in the 90s. They have to read a script word for word now and the tone of voice on ALL the wrestlers sounds like a bad porn film. This is more to do with WWE and not the wrestler's voice overall. They all sound like stoners trying to talk.
3. Acting on live television is SO MUCH more DIFFERENT than doing a voice over. You can rehearse and practice the voice over, again and again. You have multiple takes. She knows how to breathe when punching because of her MMA background and that can equal better voice when attacking in the game assuming she (sonya) is playable to begin with.
4 You have no idea how she will sound as a voice actor so stop assuming
A. She is not a "Heal" (heel) on WWE either, she is actually a baby face.
B. The game might be using actual facial models for each character so she might be the face of sonya. (Like how Ed Boon was Raiden's face in the trailer).
C. It's just a voice over people, dont get so down over something so small.

I've got no beef with Rousey doing voice acting for Sonya, I'm just disappointed that this likely confirms Sonya will be a playable character yet again. I'm so tired of the Special Forces after MKX.

That is absolutely RIDICULOUS. They're not going to waste big money, time, and press to get a celebrity to do a voice for a character who's just a story mode NPC. If that's the case they'd get her for Cassie or someone actually ON the roster. Sonya for sure will be a playable character.

i don't get why everyone is so disappointed in Sonya being in the game, like many have said before she is the first Lady/Woman in the game and it be really stupid of her not being in it, since MKX why would they remove her it looks like Ed/NRS clearly keep the original people in their games cause they know a ton of fans will be upset, they can not please everyone. i'd rather they remove Sub-Zero and Scorpion they don't do anything in the story line i don't care that they are popular so maybe sub and scorp can skip a game or all of them in the future............... NOT GOING TO HAPPEN I KNOW,stop crying/whining about this person that person being in, you don't like sonya use her as your punching bag when your practicing or whatever

Sonya was literally the best character in MKX. I'm excited to see what NRS has in store for her gameplay wise.

I'm glad they're not just gonna retire her because of Cassie. They can co-exist.

honestly i think i would take cassie over her im always game for new charachters and not always having the same one each title. yes i get sonya is og since mk1 but i think charachters like cassie and kung jin are very under rated not saying sonya is terrible but for me i need new

now if we look into mkx storymode johnny even states in the first mission he is training the new generation wich imo is on the nose for this is where nrs wants to go and i am ok with it

i also think not every original charachter needs a kid like jax kano kenshi.
