Highly doubt that a blank cover that says MK11 is the final box art lol.
As for that roster, I have my doubts. D'Vorah not being in is very weird, and Daegon being thrown in there over highly requested 3D characters like Havik just doesn't seem right to me, but I see the logic of someone wanting to throw his name in there with his connection with Kenshi from the comics and all.
That DLC list, ugh. Ermac was just in MKX why throw him in as DLC right away? If they're going to do some returning characters from the last 2 games why not bring back MK9 characters that didn't make it to MKX instead like Kabal or something? That right there makes me really doubt this leak.

I am going to get a good hearty laugh once January rolls around because all of these leaks, even the email one so many people are taking WAY too much stock in as all could have been easily fabricated, stink to high heaven of bullshit. None give me that sense of absolute truth that the JamessMK or IJ2 Mobile leak did.
For the one floating around now, days of research into the already established leaks, looking back through the progression of Netherrealm's previous games and their engines and putting together a seemingly fan and e-sports oriented roster is all relatively easy.
For the email one, give me a couple days and even I could photoshop together a legit looking fake email chain. If I had the equipment, getting a program to create a decent sounding track is also doable if you know anything at all about music. Then add in a link to a video file already available on Twitter that hadn't exactly been tossed around yet and boom, insta-viral and people take the bait. I mean, look how many YouTube click-baiters are making videos of these things and giving these idiots attention,

And you could also draw the front cover art too as well?
Considering I know 3 people with an art degree, one who was an art director on Archer, yeah. That would be a piece of cake to get done and would take them less than a day to come up with that design based on the screenshots available. Not to mention its a very poor amateurish design to begin with. If it is real, they really need better hires cause it flatout sucks. Its an eyesore.

The design aspect and the background make it not up to their usual standards, thus my phrasing. But that being said, them claiming its an early prototype also gives the leaker an out if the actual final art comes out before the leak is debunked or confirmed. When that INJ2 leak happened, that art ended up in the mobile game. It wasnt concept, it wasnt a prototype, it was finished.
All the leaks are convenient in their details and wording which leads me to believe they are clever fakes.

As I already touched on in the other thread, before the discussion got dragged over to this thread for some reason... the render/cover (whatever it is) is the single most convincing thing about the e-mail leak to me, and I say so as a graphic artist.
I'm not here to argue the composition, the aesthetics, whether it's a good design or a bad design, whether I like it or dislike it... none of that really matters to me...
The Scorpion in that piece of key art is a dead freaking match for the one in the reveal trailer, down to the stupidest detail. Call it a painting if you want. Call it a photomanip'ed screencap if you want. Claim someone could have pulled it out of thin air in a day. I disagree. It's too clean, too bright, and too good a match to have come from nowhere or been photo-chopped together by an anonymous amateur. I agree COMPLETELY that the e-mails could be photoshopped. I could photoshop those e-mails. But that Scorpion is too good a match. That thing looks like it came from the source.
And again, I say that as a guy who has a graphic arts degree, not a guy who knows 3 guys with an art degree. *Shrug* (Although I do know WAY more than 3 guys with art degrees... if that helps my credibility for some reason! :D )

Those 3 guys all happen to be in my family so I know how easily something like that can be faked and how quickly because I have Christmas presents from them all of original MK artwork hanging around my house. My whole point is that every single leak, including the one with the supposed art, could have been easily faked so to take any stock in it what so ever, before we even know more than 5 confirmed characters in the roster, is ridiculous to me.
We can sit here and argue that there isnt really anything to back up the fact these leaks have been faked yet there isnt anything yet to back up that they are real either so its pointless because we still know virtually nothing about this game. Thats my point. Its kinda dumb. Now if we knew a bunch of stuff and it all matched and it couldnt be argued then sure, I get it. Ool, accurate leak. But now? Meh.

That said, BEYOND that... I mostly agree with you. We can argue until we're blue in the face, but it's an agree to disagree situation at the end of the day, until something conclusive proves or disproves the leaks.
I frankly, think there are stupid things about these leaks too. I don't want to believe Kronika could be a real character name. But AS a graphic artist. I see that render/cover/drawing/wtf-ever we want to call it and I say... "That would be difficult to fake." ... At least given the resources we have right now. If that render of Scorpion existed elsewhere, yes, I'd call it an easy photoshop, but being that we haven't see that render of Scorpion, in that pose, elsewhere, yet it's a dead ringer to the Scorpion in the video... I'm saying it didn't come out of thin air.

We can sit here and argue that there isnt really anything to back up the fact these leaks have been faked yet there isnt anything yet to back up that they are real either so its pointless because we still no virtually nothing about this game. Thats my point. Its kinda dumb. Now if we knew a bunch of stuff and it all matched and couldnt be argued then sure, I get it. But now? Meh.
Yeah, I know how easily something like that can be faked too, and it's not nearly as easy you're making it out to be. That's my whole point.
That said, BEYOND that... I mostly agree with you. We can argue until we're blue in the face, but it's an agree to disagree situation at the end of the day, until something conclusive proves or disproves the leaks.
I frankly, think there are stupid things about these leaks too. I don't want to believe Kronika could be a real character name. But AS a graphic artist. I see that render/cover/drawing/wtf-ever we want to call it and I say... "That would be difficult to fake."

Nah, its all good man. I just hate seeing people get all caught up in a bullshit leak and be disappointed with the end result, especially this early before a lot is revealed.

Finally, this roster was just full of ishh..but it is interesting since the other leaked roster is similar. This means we are back at knowing nothing, only 1 month left to have our minds blown and see some characters return that were not part of both leaked rosters. Lots of classics will look great going by Scorpion's ninja outfit so we're in for a treat regardless.

I just hope for Boon's sake that none of these fake rosters end up looking better than the real one lol.
Because people will definitely compare. Better be able to back it up, Boon.

I dont really know if thats fair to boon/NRS. People will always be able to put together their dream rosters but NRS will always be bound by things like marketing. If you make your roster without any fan favorites like scorpion, sub, kung Lao, etc your roster could be exactly what you want but it may not be realistic.
Obviously any leaked roster should be treated with some doubt but I would encourage you to evaluate the final roster for what it is not what it might have been.

Actually, the first leaked roster had Sub, Scorp, Kung-Lao and most of the popular character we all come to know. Hell, this roster has even more of them. So it's not as if any of these leaked rosters are far outside the bounds of possibility. Heck, this particular roster I don't even care for.
I think it is fair because Boon is obviously offering up a challenge. He actually declares that people bring up these leaked rosters and compare them to the actual roster- so if he want that done then I truly hope him and his team has crafted one satisfying roster. Of course not every roster will be perfect, because we all want different things, and of course you have to take marketing into account ect- but like I said, Boon is making it seem as if the actual roster is going to be better than this particular fake one- so I hope it actually lives up to that.
I just want a well-balanced roster of Popular characters, fan favorites, MKX returnees, new characters, and a few 3D era returnees. That's all. I'm not asking for the moon.

It is not fair because Ed is not comparing the quality of the rosters but the which characters are in the roster. The original poster says that we already know the MK11 roster and Ed says to bring it up when the real roster is announced. Ed is implying that the leaked roster is wrong. Ed is not making it out that the actual roster is better but debunking the leaked roster.
