Especially round 3.

I think the ost in this game is a lot better than MKX

Have only heard it through the streams and events, but I liked it immediatly. Still have to wait to hear it without all the extra "noise" most streams have.

Round one sounded alright, something I could see being music in MKDA or Deception, but round 2 sounded like the generic fluff that we've been hearing the majority of the time since Armageddon.

I'll have to check this out, I can't remember which stage/what context I heard and liked... I think it was the Black Dragon den or something.. one of the arenas had some awesome musc

I long for the return of that Dan Forden sound.

Didn't Dan do the music for MK9? And that wasn't exactly a stellar soundtrack.

Now that you menton he may have that sounds familiar. I mean old school Dan Forden, MK 1-4, Deception - those were Dan Forden's best. MK9 I agree wasn't great because I found the music entirely forgettable. Same with MKX, forgettable Hanz Zimmer style soundscapes going on, I hate that. I like that funky 90s techno stuff with an oriental flavour better.

Actually I feel the same way about Tekken's music as Mortal Kombat's; first four games, brilliant. After that... hit and miss, largely forgettable

The best part of this map was the way the announcer pronounced the map during the select screen.

“SHANG SOONGS RUNES” it was dope.

Ive always heard Tsung be pronounced “sung” before this . But I like the change

Boi, if you don't listen to some Tekken 7 music, which features every producer in the series' history.

It's been a long time since a MK soundtrack was really awesome.

The music feels very MKII to me, but modernized.

Would it be too much of a hassle to have an option to choose what tune to use in the level. Courtyard stage would be just fine with the round 1 tune alone.

I may actually need to commit to a fan soundtrack this time. If the music is pure trash.

Or they could just ditch this half assed dynamic music idea and fully commit to the concept instead of just segmenting the music to the rounds.

But if not I would also prefer what you're proposing up there.

@ballerj91

You hit the nail on the head dude. Right down to the Hans Zimmer comparison. I miss when soundtracks had memorable melodies and catchy hooks.

Watching The Act Man review Modern Warfare 2 and I thought I was hearing the MKX soundtrack in the background.

It was not. Who did music for Modern Warfare 2 though?!

Hans Zimmer

Now, the music was super low in the stages for me in the MK11 demo, but if it's anything like the main menu theme (which has only the tiniest bit of spice), I WILL commit to the fan soundtrack.

I wanted to do this ages ago and I want to know if anyone is really into the idea of co-producing this with me.

Exactly, you can't distinguish one soundtrack from the other these days can you? Everyone wants to sound like that overrated bloat now and it mostly all sounds like the same generic stuff. Gotta get your horns, your frantic string pieces and some synth and there you go, modern soundtracks.

I been complaining about this since some particular tunes in MK9. *cough* Rooftop Night *cough*

On the note of the fan soundtrack, I would be all in with you my dude if I could actually plat an instrument.

But I heavily support this idea!

I appreciate it. Any digital audio suite will do. Shit, weird stuff like recording scremas and such to use as instruments would work. I remember that being a common element post MK4. I just wana make something for all the MK fans out there.

Well if you ever need some voice work I'm your guy. You know the moment I ever get a mic setup that would actually provide good sound quality.

Eh. I'll see what happens. I think I'll take that The Suffering approach and get some metal banging among other things. The thought of sourcing my own sounds for this is exciting!

The most modern MK stage themes that play in my head are the Slaughterhouse, Dark Prison/Foundry, Chamber of Artifacts/Glass Machine, Tiles of Death and Whimsy from Puzzle Kombat. Other than that, it's MKII/UMK3, the screaming one in 4, and the continue? Well pit screen theme. I'm sure I'd know the tune of the stages if I was actually playing a game. The older games music was so iconic, and memorable.

Remixes of the klassik themes, I usually remember the original more.

Modern stage themes seem too quiet/forgettable ambient or industrial ambient, too busy, just background noise.

While I do like how the destroyed courtyard's music fits the asian atmosphere, it seems generic. Like it's from any asian themed Hollywood movie. I'm not complaining, I like it. The countdown music for the Kombat Kast was pretty intense, I liked it too, but felt like I was waiting for Diablo to load or some MMORPG quest game.
