Unlikely. Venom is owned by Warner Bros' (DC Comics) biggest rival: Marvel/Disney.

This. Considering the other game Netherrealm makes is Injustice, I don't foresee a marvel character being in the game. Also I dont foresee any comicbook characters from DC or Marvel getting fatalitied.

I mentioned him and Deadpool in the guest character thread. Unless Fox and WB can work something out I don't see it happening but they both fit in this game perfectly.

However I just remembered, Predator and Alien were owned by Fox as well so maybe ANYTHING is possible?

lol Dude, the film Venom is a standalone. The character is owned by Disney.

And Disney is not giving up any of its IP to its biggest rival.

marvel still owns the charachter though. for example about two years ago marvel stopped using the word mutant in comics and fantastic four comics because at that time fox wouldnt share the charachters. basicly anytime marvel created a new xman or mutant fox would get rights automatically to that charachter for films . sony and marvel however worked out some arrangement to have spider-man in the mcu and marvel helped produce venom as a consultant . if i recall the deal was the mcu can use spiderman and marvel would allow some of there charachters to appear in the sony and executive produce sony films but marvel dosent have to pay anything. sony does and thats why we have ironman in spider-man homecoming.

Predator and Alien aren't owned by a rival comic company. WB/DC comics is not going to add a character from a rival comic book company.

I second this, honestly.

I'd rather they bring back other MK characters for DLC.

I love Venom but I think the chances of him making it into MK11 are very slim.

Nope.

Marvel, and by extension Disney, are the only ones who own Venom. The Spiderman characters' film rights are LICENSED to Sony for use. They have to make use of them though otherwise those rights revert back to Marvel/Disney. Sony actually asked Marvel/Disney to step in and help with Spiderman Homecoming which allowed Spiderman to join the MCU.

There's also whatever deal Marvel/Disney has with Capcom to contend with and the fact that WB is the home of DC characters. You're more likely to see a DC character in MK than Venom.

Yeah. Marvel's going to give their license to a Game company that has a DC license.

While extremely unlikely, it's worth noting that there have been official DC / Marvel crossover comics in the past, so the DC link isn't a guaranteed end to the discussion.

Personally, I'd rather see Deadpool mostly because he had the greatest potential for some truly unique Fatalities with his fourth wall antics. Some ideas I have:

1) Deadpool pulls out a smart phone and somehow completely erases the opponent character from the game.

2) Deadpool walks off screen, then the camera cuts to a guy sitting on his couch with a game controller in his hand. Deadpool then opens the front door and shoots him in the head. This one might cause some parental outrage, but what's a Mortal Kombat game without some controversy about violence? If necessary they could make the guy on the couch look cartoony to make it extra clear that it's not real.

It's worth noting that Disney actually does have a business relationship with WB games since closing Disney Interactive in 2016.

I know this is off topic from Deadpool as a guest character in MK but I have hope that someday we will get a game that crosses over Injustice with Marvel. After seeing NRS's work with DC characters in the first two Injustice games I think they could totally handle a Marvel Vs. DC game. If they could come up with an arrangement on splitting the profits Disney and WB could make SO much money off of it. It would be, commercially speaking, one of the biggest video games of all time. Certainly the biggest fighter.

A full DC vs Marvel game might run into issues with Capcom depending on how their Marvel vs Capcom deal is structured. If they have exclusive rights then it would be impossible.

Multiple studios aside from Capcom make Marvel games. Just look at that new Spider-Man game on PS4. So I am pretty sure they don't have exclusive rights to making games with Marvel characters.
