That same leak also says Shang Tsung is in, but we've gotten nothing so far. I honestly trust the in-game dialogue over the leak.

I hope so. Classic vibrant spandex outfits for characters is criminally underrated these days. That sounds like sarcasm but I'm being sincere. I'll take that over dull practical combat gear....Sonya, Jacqueline, Cassie, Takeda, Johnny.

If Jax was dead or critically injured, "attacked" is not the word Sonya would use. At most, it implies a conflict.

It might also be a reference to MK9, because Jax fought Jade in his story chapter.

Jax is a trilogy character and never a wasted roster spot. That said, I'd be open to letting him sit out for better characterization for Jacqui. If NRS chooses to make his assassination at the hands of Erron Black canon, it would give Jacqui some needed oomphf as a character. She would have an enemy, someone to hate, maybe even an obsession which would fracture her relationship with the Cages. It would give her something a little bit more than "Jax's daughter who Takeda wants to bone."

I wish you were on the NRS team. That sounds great. But considering the drivel NRS has been shitting out since 2011- the chances of good story telling and character development for a character like Jacqui is zero.

She'll continue to be Cassie's Hallmark movie diversity quota best friend and daddy's little girl.

That said, the only thing I really did like about Jacqui was her little romance with Takeda- that's something I'd actually like to see develop. Makes me even more annoyed that Takeda didn't make the cut...

Shang and Jax are highly likely in. The dialogue might be a reference to either an in game event or MK9. I don't.understand why he wouldn't be in.

Jax is more valuable to the series than D'Vorah.

I understand skepticism about Shang, Mileena & Shinnok, because we haven't seen any tangible proof to confirm them yet... but it baffles me that anyone would still doubt the leaks about the default roster at this point.

I hope Shang makes it in, and that in place of his traditional Kintaro transformation, we're treated instead to a transformation into Farmer Jax.

I would be surprised if Mileena and Shang aren't in the game.
