Ed Boon is an annoying troll with a very bad taste in characters... Known fact, so this could be just a troll message, good thing, Boon isn't the only person in the team.

Still, Nitara isn't likely to return, especially with Skarlet kicking the blood-theme.

Well, no one's arguing that point. But I can think wishfully all I want.

@umbrascitor I thought she looked fantastic both her in-game appearance as well as the concept art. I like how they modeled her clothing more on her DA primary which is my favorite costume of her’s. I also really liked her hair...then again I have a thing for ponytails so whatever lol. This ultimately was what made MKX almost unbearably painful for me though is that Li Mei was there and she looked amazing...but I couldn’t play as her. Same thing with Sareena and Fujin too for that matter.

@Gillbob316 I feel ya on Nitara bro. I’d like to see her return as well as seeing more insight into her home realm. I always thought she was cool.

If you could replace SF Jacqui, SF Cassie, SF Sonya, Kano and Frost with Noob Saibot, Fujin, Havik, Rain/ Reiko and Taven. Would you make the deal??

Taven, imo, is a much better protagonist than Cassie, And the others are fan favourites.

That's too much. Just bring back Fujin, Sareena and Havik and that's it. Most others are meh and people hated them during the 3D era. So how come everyone wants them all back all of a sudden? lol

I don't think "hate" is the right word. People reacted badly to Taven because he took the protagonist place from Liu Kang, Raiden etc. But he's a much better hero than Cassie.

Reiko was never hated. And he's a fan favourite aftervthey showed how awesome he can bein the comic. Kotal Kahn called him the greates startegic and military threat the Empire has ever faced and Havik said he needed his brilliant brain to summon the Amulet of Shinnok back in the world.

Rain ?? Do I need to answer? People are going crazy right now that he's not playable. He had the best design in MKX, with the regal outfit and his gameplay was awesome too. His interactions with "Buluc" were also great.

All of thise could be important in story mode to stop Kronika or some really powerful boss.

Just to answer the basic question, and not ignore it before I ramble and pick it apart: For the sake of bringing back more characters we haven't seen for a while, I'm inclined to say yes, I'd swap Group A for Group B (Reiko, not Rain, on the second lineup though)...

THAT said, I feel like your basic question stacks the deck. A) You're pitting 6 characters against 5, which immediately stacks the deck in choice B's favor, by giving the choice an extra face for people to latch onto. Beyond that, 4 of the 5 characters on choice A appeared in the last game, wheras none of the 6 characters in choice B did. I mean take two names out of Choice B, and throw in Jax and Kung Jin instead (both of whom don't seem to be returning), and suddenly it's way less appealing too. To someone (like me) who likes to mix things up and bring back faces we haven't seen in a while... B is clearly the more appealing choice OVERALL, but that doesn't mean I necessarily like the characters in B more.

That said, of those 11 characters, Cassie & Noob are my two favorites. So the score is 1-1 on "characters I actually like"

If I had to just pick 5 names from that list of 11, I'd bring back: Cassie, Noob, Havik, Reiko & Frost. So... 2 from the first list and 3 from the second.

Fujin, Taven, Rain, & Jacqui all bore me. They'd be my bottom 4 choices. So for "characters I don't care for" that's 3 from list B, and 1 from list A, for the count.

Kano & Sonya I appreciate as classic characters, but I really don't play either of them frequently, so I'm kinda "take it or leave it" on those two. I even considered keeping Sonya on my own personal choice of 5 above, but then I realized I hadn't picked Frost yet, and the choice was clear. I'm actually eager to see Frost return. I always get most excited about seeing PS2 era characters re-imagined.

I don't LOVE Havik, Reiko or Frost either, but I like them enough I'd be eager to see them get some new story development. Which puts them a notch above Sonya & Kano, even if they're not my super-duper-faves.

So yeah, that's basically what wins the day. The middleground. 3 characters I'd like to see developed, vs. two who have enough development. Even though Choice B has 3 to 1 characters I don't care about, and it PAINS me to sacrifice Cassie by giving away choice A (Because I really do love her as a character. Mained her in X even. Her insults and quips during gameplay made her super fun to beat people up with.)

To Sum Up: Everyone both likes and dislikes different characters. Ultimately my favorite choice of those 5 vs. those 6 is a bit from column A and a bit from column B. As I'm sure is true for many people.

That's the thing about 25 character slots - There's PROBABLY at least a COUPLE for everyone.

Am I happy Mileena is gone? No, not at all! Would I love to see Nitara come back? Yes, absolutely!

Do I hate this roster because it has neither of my two favorite characters... ehhhhh... not really. I kinda didn't expect either of them to make it from the get go, and I still have another favorite in Cassie, and another character I'm eager to see return in Frost. And who knows... maybe I'll find someone new to like too, in the absence of my favorites. Skarlet seems more appealing in 11 than she did in 9. And those 3 new characters could be all kinds of interesting.

So, back on topic. Would you put Fujin, Reiko, Havik, Noob, Rain or Daegon/Taven in the game?

To the above poster, this guy doesn't hate Daegon and Taven:

Neither do these 1.8 thousand people:

I'd be down to see a story kombat pack with Takeda, Daegon, Kenshi and Taven, they need to have their showdown.

I really don't give much about Taven and Daegon, I don't like them as Edenian Males, they are too bland and boring for that, being about dragons doesn't help them in my eyes.

Rain = the only Edenian male for me this far, I still hope King Jerrod at one time joins the roster with some awesome powers though, they could turn Taven and Daegon into cool characters, but for now they are still boring.

Of the 3D era, only a few characters ever really stood out. I liked Mavado and Li Mei more than most, for story potential more than anything, but most people hated these characters.

Quan Chi and Kenshi are the 3D era characters that really resound with people, and as results, they have kind of been inducted into the iconic class. If you were going to make a definitive MK game, it is probably the MK2 roster + them, with Erron Black probably having that status now too. And Cassie Cage, truthfully. Some sit on the outskirts like Bo’ Rai Cho, who you can tell NRS loves, but has never really gripped fans that much. And some have fan followings despite not being all that important as characters (Sareena and Fujin come to mind).

Honestly, I want characters that feel fleshed out and like they belong in the game more so than token representation because they haven’t been around for a while. And hey, Skarlet is getting another crack, so good for her.

Havik always had potential, and Ashrah could easily be updated. But truthfully, the character whose story would really seem to blend with Kronika’s is Hotaru. And I’d probably throw Fujin into the DLC because fans want him so bad, even though I find him compelling or as charismatic as other characters. Nitara and Skarlet interacting could be...something. I dunno. None of them really get me “pumped” because I feel like they need something else to make them interesting, as opposed to being inherently so.

Kenshi and Havik are the two I land on as “yeses.” Fujin would be a reluctant inclusion.

I see Sareena becoming good because deep down her heart is good, while Ashrah misguidedly believes she is doing "good" while her motivations are selfish and her methods are still pretty sinister (voodoo dolls; achieving "purity" by committing genocide).

Ashrah wears a facade of holiness, but her fakery isn't entirely her fault. She's an indoctrinated soldier fighting for a so-called righteous cause because she's convinced that her path will bring her purpose and redemption. I could see Ashrah becoming a top recruit for Dark Raiden, since she's not averse to using sadistic methods against whatever people she's told are the "enemy." Meanwhile, Sareena has found her own true and genuine sense of purpose in fighting against the Netherrealm, and I can see her fighting alongside the real good guys (as she did in MKX) and coming into conflict with Raiden and Ashrah for being just as bad as their enemies.

Ashrah, in my opinion, has loads of untapped potential. But chances are she's going to stay in the wastebin for good, since people have a hard time thinking past "female Raiden" just because she has a big white hat and a torpedo move.

The hat doesn't bother me too much. It's kind of symbolic, really. You know how sometimes a new convert to a religion gets really into it and starts acting all full of themselves, putting up a front about how virtuous and superior they are now that they've found this calling? The hat, to my eye, is like a big flamboyant billboard advertising her newfound Holy Warrior virtue, a masquerade of dignity and elegance. (One could even possibly call it... vanity.)

If I could influence one change to Ashrah's design, I would make her face still look slightly demonic. Like, the kind of face that looks like a demon's approximate idea of what human beauty is supposed to look like, but rather "uncanny valley" to any real human who looks upon it. Just enough of a transformation to deceive her into thinking she is a pure and beautiful creature now that she wields the holy sword. Then the hat becomes even more significant, since it's a pretentious display of "good"ness that literally hides the rather twisted figure beneath. Even better that the hat has a veil.

I would just turn her into a white female ninja lol.

I agree with the part demon face, I think there need to be a lot more ugly, monstrous female characters in MK, not every character needs to be some world model. And yeah I know about the ugly pixel faces, but if NRS got their way, all the females would probably look beautiful.
