I'd have to go with Reptile as well as Mileena!

Quan Chi bashing aside, I was serious about Shang Tsung. I would like to see him develop more of a storyline besides being, as T-rex put it, the Starscream to Shao Kahn's Megatron. He's my favourite character but he's not a good character. He needs to have some kinda development from evil sorcerer who turns into other guys. Especially since he can't turn into other guys anymore.

Sub-Zero, Noob Saibot, Quan Chi, Raiden, Shao Kahn

Freaking Kintaro. Give him a reason to be around as opposed to just "Goro's replacement".

Same with Motaro, actually. Seriously, neither of them have ever been given anything approaching a personality. Time to change that.

Reptile ought to develop a brain this time through. I'm also hoping to see a bit more out of Ermac, Jade, Kabal and Stryker.

I'd actually like all the characters to get more fleshed out stories. Even if it just a retelling with more detail. Nearly all the characters had basic stories that could be better fleshed out.

Noob Saibot would be great as we see the evolution from the original Sub-zero to Noob play out over this time. His connections to Quan Chi and Shinnok would be interesting too.

Reptile, Noob, Smoke, Jade, Mileena, Baraka, Kintaro, Nightwolf, Ermac and Stryker.

I totally think it's unfair that Noob isn't a major character I mean he's a fucking WRAITH!

Well first off seeing as how Quan Chi is in the MK1-UMK3 story this time around, I'm betting that the Brotherhood of the Shadow will be a major sub plot(unlike in the original MKII/Trilogy where its just Noob there to spy on the tournament and no explanation is given as to what the Brotherhood actually is or anything). So because of that I am looking for Noob Saibot and Scorpion to play larger roles in the story(especially in setting things up for a potential retelling of MK4).

I think Kung Lao and Nightwolf should both get bigger stories. Like some people have pointed out, Kung Lao, while badass, has played second fiddle a lot. Usually to Liu Kang. I'd like to see him do more on his own this time. Ditto for Nightwolf. Liu Kang may be the "Chosen One" of Mortal Kombat but I think that Kung Lao and Nightwolf are both worthy characters as "alternate" or "2nd string" Grand Champions, if you will.

And Reptile of course. I'm sick of Reptile being an idiot that gets played due to his issues as a Saurian. I'm hoping he finally shows some brains and grows a pair this time, and turns on Shao Kahn during this game. Considering Kahn's treatment of the Saurians, I've never understood why they don't make Reptile into a good guy.

i wanna see more story directly between sub-zero and noob saibot (canonically, do they even know each other exist?!?)

let scorpion, sub zero, raiden, shao kahn, etc. all lose the spotlight (much as i love all of them). let some characters who have deservedly huge fanbases but have never had any major stories (at least that were canon) play a major role. like....ERMAC!!!! god that guy has potential. NRS, USE IT!!

of course, all this is most likely pointless. this is a retelling of mk1-3, so tbh the characters with big stories in that era will most likely have big stories in this game. unless they totally revamp the series (which im hoping will happen more and more).

I kinda want to see what happens with Night Wolf. I would say Johnny Cage but im pretty sure NRS will do a good job with him.

Others that could have more story

thinking about it almost all of them have potential to have better story lines or more, the team just has to do it right.

I agree with both, especially Reptile! I mean his MKA ending although not canon said that he was returning to humanoid form. Id love to see his story develop further.

Definately Smoke.. I wanna know more about this guy.. he has always been a secret character (MK2, MK3, MKSM) or part of a tag team (MKD). Even in Armageddon he was a bit disappointing.. I feel like they gave him some random fighting styles they had left from older games and they didn't even bother to give him a weapon like most of the other characters. It would be quite cool to see Smoke interact with Subzero and the other Earthream heroes.

Other than Smoke, I would like to see Rain's story (although he probably won't be in the game). Although many seem to concider him as a joke character because of the purple rain reference, I liked his story in UMK3 / Trilogy.

Kintaro - I think they should explore his "bloodline". I think it should be revealed that he is a rare Shokan who are known for there brutality like in MKA. I think the plot twist could come when he realises why he is the last of this breed of Shokan. King Gorbarak killed this type of Shokan for fear of their power (Kintaro was the last remaining member of his sub species and is adopted since birth). Kintaro and Goro were trained in the martial arts by Shang Tsung since his defeat to the Great Kung Lao. Whilst Kintaro is more powerful than Goro, Goro is the better fighter and hence he is chosen ahead of Kintaro to represent Outworld.
