Keep your eyes open, you guys. wink Will be posting an update soon and we will happily move on to decide about the winner's fantastic base design.

Syco Collectibles has confirmed to me that it can feature a special base just for the character and us. Awesome!

I'll get back to you very soon. Check back here for the update.

BTW, I should have asked this earlier :/

How will we pay for it? Directly to Syco collectibles with some code or does it all get collected to one account for one big transfer, and what are the options for payment?

CONGRATULATIONS MOTARO!!!

Motaro has won the competition and he is set to become MKO's Exclusive MK Statue! He will be created by the amazing Syco Collectibles.

Final Results:

Motaro: 28 Votes in his favor
MK Dragon: 13 Votes in its favor

Keep both eyes open for an update tomorrow regarding this topic.

In the meantime, considering his MK3 Victory Pose was the selected winner pose, discuss and share your ideas about what you want for:

1) Motaro's Base.
2) Motaro's Body.
3) Something in his hand:
No? or Yes? What would it be?

I suggest 3 things to consider, but, we'll definitely discuss all of this in the next thread:

Motaro's Base:

A "stained glass looking base" that resembles the colors, lighting, and colorful glass-effect/look of the MK Temple surrounded by CANDLES:

Imagine Motaro standing in a base like that, resembling the iconic colors of the goth Mk temple and surrounded by a few candles.

Motaro's Body:

His MK3 Victory Pose is the winner. I suggest he is sculpted looking battle-damaged. Maybe expose a little bit of his broken ribcage. It makes him look more deadly and animalistic.

Motaro's Hand:

Does he need to be holding something? Sheeva's head? Johnny's head? An orb of power? Nothing?

Discuss, but, keep your eyes open for the next thread that will focus on these three last things.

If this is MK9 Motaro, the base should totally be the circular floor inlay design in Kahn's MK9 throne room stage; it makes sense as an arena for him, it looks extremely cool and we have a really good reference picture in the Art book.

I'll try to put the picture up later...

you do that jax007

Personally I want his mk9 look, it is shown only briefly and I want to look at it all the time,

1) The base I suppose is not a background but just the thing he stands on?
Ill wait for Jax007 to post his image before i make any judgement on that

2) I just want his mk9 outfit in mk 3 victory pose

3) I don't want anything in his hand...

Alright here's the inlay design on the floor of Kahn's MK9 throne room:

I think it would make a great base; the skull even looks Motaro-like. I would just make it bronze colored like it is in the game.

1. Base. Absolutely agree with the cathedral appearance. Stone floor with a candle or two, and perhaps smashed stained glass around his hooves.

2. Body. Battle damaged. He's just beaten someone. Splatters of blood and a few gouges and cuts across his chest.

3. His hand. Something neutral but gory. A skull with spinal column hanging down, or a whole ripped female ninja's costume.

What if we just had the statue look like THE MOTARO STATUE from "The Balcony"??

Having our motaro statue look like a Motaro statue makes sense to me at least.

"1) Motaro's Base.
2) Motaro's Body.
3) Something in his hand: No? or Yes? What would it be?"

Awesome!! Motaro is the winner! :)

1) For the base I definitely think that stained glass idea rocks, that would be something special for this piece. If however, they weren't confident they could execute that effect with paint app, I would just like to see a simple base with MK logo.. but I do agree this base should be special and unique to the statue/ MKO forum, and the "stainged glass" has meaning much like goro's lair

2) For his body I would like it to be left alone just like in the digitised MK picture.. however I would like to see the "metal" parts be painted a metallic color.. Chrome would be awesome but it's not realistic and too expensive, which is why I suggest metallic paint.. and perhaps a gloss or clear coating/finish to give it that shine and "reflection", I think that would look really nice

Also, that MK3 puppet of Motaro couldn't have shown up at a better time, it looks amazing.. if they could somehow apply a "fur" on his head and back like with the puppet, that would be a great use of mixed media much like kitana's blades having real metal.. but again this is hit or miss, it could make it or break it (make it lifelike or make it toy-like), so if they weren't confident then i think sculpted would be the way to go

As we mentioned earlier as well, a light-up features at the tip of the tail (as opposed to an orb) and possibly the eyes would be nice as well

3) I absolutely think his hand should be left alone.. As cool and dynamic a concept as it is to have him holding something like someone's head, I think his pose as it is, is very museum like (which is appropiate, Motaro being a mythological creature).. I think it should be left that way, simple and effective, Motaro is already a beast, and in that pose he gives off a very museum/mythological vibe.. it is also accurate to the in-game model..

Also in my oppinion it's not a good idea to make the statue seem too "busy" and detract from the presence of Motaro himself

Either way this goes..... I am in!!

Not gonna lie...sorta bummed here. I just can't muster interest in Motaro. I'd like to be able to provide a pre-order but with that hefty of a price-tag, I can't commit to something I'm this passingly interested in. Hopefully this pans out for you guys though so it at least can get produced.

This, but for something in his hand? I'd go with a Tarkatan, Human, or Shokan skull.

Excellent ideas, you guys!

I'm glad to see support for the "stained glass MK-temple-like" base featuring some candles. I think that would be pretty epic for the likes of this character.

Also, his body being battle damaged to the point of showing off an opened "X-RAY-like" wound would be awesome. A broken ribcage? Some extra bruises and scratches is also cool.

As for him holding something, maybe "nothing" is the best option.

But, Johnny's severed head sounds like a very attractive suggestion. And i love Johnny. smile

Will get back to some of your posts asap.

Same here. And I think the base should be the area you fight him in in MK3.

A special base, for sure.

We just have to reach a general agreement about it and about Motaro's body and hand.

Syco will be happy to please us. That I know for certain, so, it's up to us to make this be what we really want it to be. And hopefully its going to be epic.

Well.. As far as the "battle damage" goes, how about we make the damage on 1 side, so it is up the collector which side is displayed? Depending which way it is faced, it could be perceived as battle damaged or non battle damaged. Kind of like 2 display options (battle & museum). I think that is really cool.. I will still be happy if it is BD all over, as long as the effects are good and not over-done

Given MK's gritty and graphic nature, I do see the appeal in having battle damage, and I agree a broken ribcage would look really cool.. if that's the route this takes, again please ask them to use a gloss effect to make it more lifelike, for example a clear in the reds for the blood.. What I mean is, if you take a look at, for example, pop culture shock's scoprion statue.. originally the base (which was supposed to depict a blood pool) had a straight kind of red/organge color.. See here: http://www.sideshowtoy.com/mas_assets/jpg/901518_press06-001.jpg But we brought up this problem with Jerry (owner of pop culture shock), and he changed it to this new version with the mentioned effects (see video at 3:00 onwards): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZ_wkvIjR_A&feature;=player_embedded#! (official pics not up yet). As you can see, it looks alot more realistic, which is important when depicting blood (else it can look "cheap"). It would also blend into the brown color of his fur better - it would look very "animalistic", and visually cool.

Also, maybe Johnny's head could be detachable? If it doesn't add up the cost too much, but I think if they are going to sculpt Johnny's head anyway, it wouldn't cost that much extra for magnets, maybe $10 a piece (and that is assuming it was a switch-out part with 2 hands. ie. 1 with motaro's hand as in picture, and 1 wrapped around Johnny.. but perhaps they could even make it so his head is detachable without switch-outs or magnets, in which case there would be no extra cost)
