She is deranged! I love it!
That little giggle would defiantly lead to me to becoming one of her victims that's for sure.
I love the childish, not serious, hyper sexual, horny, personality of Mileena in this game

Regarding the eyes, I personally think it adds to her character.

And I like the cat idea too.

After watching the video, I have to say that so far, Mileena is definitely the worst female in terms of overall presentation. I know that Mortal Kombat has always been over-the-top, but the execution of Mileena in this game is atrocious. It would come as no surprise to me if her portrayal in the cutscenes will be nothing more than that of a 1-dimensional stereotype. Characters like her are suffering from the dreaded Soul Calibur syndrome. Mileena was at her best in MK: Deception, because that's where she truly shined as a character.

Mileena is completely one dimensional! I mean, let's take a look at her boring personality!

-Twisted sadism to evoke joy and sexual thrill.
-Inferiority complex because of her tarkatan features, causing her to want to expose the beautiful parts of her body.
-Enjoys mindfucking her enemies by displaying sexual emotions and actions during battle, only to mutilate them shortly afterwards.
-Burning hatred, jealousy and desire to usurp her sister's position as Shao Kahn's prized daughter/princess of Edenia.
-A tragic birth of which she was bread to be a grotesque killing machine.

Yea. None of this is interesting at all. She has no potential. I'll just skip past her story.
She personality kinda reminds me of Xenia Onatop from Goldeneye

I do like the new moves (especially the jumping Sai stab.), Unfortunataly, that's where the "good" ends.

I really dislike how they've gone the "Psychopath with the child-like personality" route. Watching her in this vid... I don't really feel like I'm watching Mileena. MKD was definitely where Mileena shined. She was cunning and ruthless and had serious goals. There was nothing about her personality that indicated "demented child in a grown-up's body".

I don't know, maybe to some this change is a good thing. Perhaps some feel it adds to her character and makes her more interesting. That's fine, to each their own. It just doesn't feel like Mileena to me.

Another thing: I really hate that she doesn't use her Sai more. I mean, they've got Kitana using her fans all over the place in both special moves and combos (which is a good thing, that's how it should be).. even Sub-Zero (who really never relied on weapons in the majority of the MK games) is using ice swords quite a bit. Nightwolf too. So how come Mileena gets to use her Sai only in special moves? It doesn't seem right, as her sai have always been as big a part of her character as Kitana's fans are to Kitana. I truly hope this is fixed before release.

Last, but not least: I hope her second throw is more interesting than the boring one shown here.

Don't get me wrong, Mileena has always been one of my favorites.. but I'm a bit disappointed. Maybe she'll grow on me once I've played her.. but at this point I really doubt it.

Loved the gameplay, loved the eyes...My only beef was with the voice work. I agree with whoever mentioned it previously but something about the "crazy old crone" voice seemed weak. Also, while the win pose animation is great...the moaning voice seemed out of place to me.

Still...love what they're doing with her.

So true.

In MK2 and MKD Mileena was a brutal, though evil bitch but she wasn't "insane" as they try to make her in this version.

Blah, still hate her eyes, and more importantly I hate her new personality. And YES it is very much new, because Mileena has NEVER at any point been portrayed like some raving psycho toddler, jealous maybe, but not psycho. I strongly miss the days where Mileena was portrayed as someone who was just as capable of leading and ruling an army and empire just as much as Kitana. The Mileena that was cleverly cunning, and had much bigger goals up her sleeve.

Yes I know this is Mileena from an earlier period in the MK time line, but nevertheless even then Mileena was all about pleasing and gaining Shao Kahn's favor and proving that she was just as worthy if not more so than her "sister". If anything, instead of going back in time and having Mileena act like a horny psychopath, they should have explored the emotional woes and personal issues that made the character what she was in the present day MK timeline throughout Deception and Armageddon.

This was a chance for the MK team to finally make people really feel for Mileena and understand her true reasons for resenting Kitana the way she does. There's so much unexplored depth in the story between Kitana, Mileena, and Shao Kahn, and yet every single MK game, they refuse to focus on it. At any rate, I wasn't impressed by the video. NEXT!

Your sarcasm would have been effective had you actually had a grasp of how I feel about the character. I wasn't particularly a fan of Mileena in the earlier games, but when MK: Deception came around, I felt she improved, among certain other characters. I never said that Mileena is a 1-dimensional character. I said that it would come as no surprise to me if she was portrayed as a 1-dimensional stereotype in the cutscenes. I'm well aware of how her character and story are, especially since I'm into MK's story.

Oh, and by the way, I had no idea that bread could be a grotesque killing machine. Thanks for the insight. wink

Mileena's pathology and motives can easily be portrayed in the story mode, I wouldn't count them out just yet. We've only seen her in game behavior and intro, there's going to be much more to her in the story mode cutscenes.

Mileena is awesome. Those girly giggles give me the heeby jeebies.

Love her intro, it's glorious. Her voice is really good, those girly noises are scary, and her victory is oh so marvelous! The blood detail is crazy. Speaking of her victory pose, shouldn't she be spilling green blood and not red? that red blood she's spitting is supposed to be Reptile's right? I think the blood colors need to correspond to each other for win poses and fatalities.

Shao Kahn's taunting in the background for "finish him" is truly an awesome detail, and the crowd going "awww" for no fatality, is just so full of win.

Great video, and just for the hell of it, here's her fatality in hd (not new sorry): FATALITY

There is no misunderstanding. You are assuming just because Mileena doesn't whine about Kitana during fights that that aspect of her character will be erased. You have nothing to base your assumptions on. We haven't even seen a fragment of the story, and yet you call her one dimensional.

The only difference from MK Deception to now is that she actually ISN'T one dimensional. In MK:D characters showed no personality in fights, now they do, and you start accusing them of being one dimensional. All they are doing is ADDING personality to characters, nothing will be taken away.

By the way, Mileena couldn't have been any more one-dimensional in MK:Deception, all we got from her was "I wanna be Kitana". Now she's got that and the lovely dementia to compliment it.

Oh, and congratulations on finding that typo. Because of my nigh-immaculate genetic structure, it is as rare as Halley's Comet to find any sort of error on my behalf. You should be proud.

The addition of new gameplay to these vids gives them much more value.

Mileena is looking great. Her victory pose is awesome. Can you imagine her jumping out of the screen at you in 3D. Her breaker looked good too.
