Believe me this is not a troll thread. I!m a die hard mk fan since mk (one) at the arcades.
I'm just new to this site and these are my first posts. Everyone has to make a start without getting flamed.
In mkvsdc or da you could at least see the floor till the end of the arena. In this mk9 you just see the bridge no acid or anything else on the floor.
I love this game and I want it to be perfect.
Just make an option to turn this stuff off.

I've always liked the cinematic "spotlight" feel of darkening the background but not the characters...but making the background disappear entirely makes the scene look too bland. They should just DIM the lights, not go completely black.
Agreed.Hattoris Wrote:
I personally prefer the MK1-MK3 style myself. I think just dimming it works the best. But I do have to agree that it looked good staying light in Kahn's Arena. That stage has always looked foreboding to begin with

Looks like I got you wrong. LOL
Well, in this case, I must say that I don't agree neither I do disagree with this statement. I don't think that darkening the entire arena, making only the floor visible, makes the game much more awesome and realistic, or more stupid and shitty.
( ↑ is this last sentence correct? o_O)
I could care less about this "issue".

you've got a point too.
there are more important things but as I said I want this game to be perfect.
when the background disappears it is like I'm watching the same fatality over and over again. And the new 2d approach makes it even worse because the floor disappears too (deadpool stage)

If the entire background is black or not, it's not a factor that makes it look like they're doing the same fatality over and over again. At least to me...

My bad, both past tense. When you are typing your ass off, some of these are bound to jump through.Casselman Wrote:

it's all good, everyone makes these mistakes. I didn't mean to seem like a dick about it.. but I kinda did lol.
ANYWAY.. yeah.. I don't see anything wrong with the way it currently is.

Actually you didn't! No need to worry, man!
Also, if we don't complain about simple details, maybe some big issues can be found in the final game.

I actually like that idea.
I've never liked the idea of the completely black background, it just doesn't seem right.
If they're not willing to change it up slightly then just go back to the original style and darken it slightly.
Also, i'm not a fan of people stating add an option for this/that. If they do that for every element you end up with everyone playing a different game.

not true, its seen, since you cannot saw a trailer. Its because you cannot saw whats not physically not there.
glad to know im not the only one who thought and felt that the background disappearing (entirely).. was a little awkward.. I'd much prefer the background (as well as floor) to dim (as it once originally did in MK1-3).. hopefully they'll fix this..
I'll join in and say I prefer having a visible setting for my fatalities.
I rather enjoyed the brief bit we saw of Kung Lao's fatality as he decapitates and slices the victim in two and the lights were still on for the most part. Made the experience seem connected to the location, rather than magically teleported to "Fatality Land". Not fond of the very rigid floating floors when it blacks out either.
That said, I would still consider it a lesser priority than other things.

Oooooo what Spirit Wolf Wrote!!!! I'm a HUGE fan of that idea!
If they desaturated the background that would look soooo sick AND it would make the background look like they faded like in the original trilogy but with a current-gen twist! Which is pretty much the theme of the entire game (Elements from the original trilogy only with a current-gen twist).
Three Cheers for De-saturation of the Background!!!

they don't have to leave every light on... I'm not demanding that much
but make it at least like mkvsdcu (looked ok)
now it's just horrible (floating stages or background all cut off)

In the new mkast the fatalities with the backgrounds look so awesome...
get rid of that darkening...
get rid of that darkening...
Compromise:
it would be a nice touchup for the stages, for example if on the Pit or Kahn's Collosseum when you input the fatality code a cloud obscures the moon (Pit) or some of those reddish clouds (Kahn's Arena) begin to turn to stormclouds rapidly. Also, the spectators could turn silent, and then cheer when you kill the opposition.
In inside arenas for example, the light's, torches would be blown out by a sudden gust of wind... in Throne Room -in reverse- a massive lightning could hit when you do the input. That stafe is already stormy and dark.

They only have it like that to show off the fatalities in a montage video. I wouldn't be surprised if they had an option to turn off the blackening of the background in the options menu.
Really though, this is getting out of hand.
